Adopt A Pet Today from the Lassen County Animal Shelter – Piper
|
If your heart belongs to bully breeds, then come down to the Lassen County Animal Shelter and meet Piper.
Piper came to the shelter with two pups, who have since moved onto the next chapter of their lives, and now it’s time for her to do the same. This big girl will give you her undivided attention, completely content with spending quality time with her person.
Piper could use a brief refresher course in leash etiquette, however, she’s a good listener and adapts well to new routines/expectations. If you’re looking for a new best friend, Piper is your gal. She’s gorgeous, loveable, and has the most adorable heart-shaped marking on her hip.
|
|
|
Piper absolutely loves people, though her ideal home should be without cats. Further evaluation will need to be done to see how Piper does with other dogs. If there are other dogs in a potential new home, it’s recommended to bring them by for a meet and greet to ensure they get along.
Should you be interested in learning more about Piper, or other adoptable animals at the shelter, please contact staff at (530) 257-9200. Piper will be spayed prior to adoption, heartworm tested and brought up to date on her vaccinations.
|
|
Featured animals at the Lassen County Animal Shelter are available for adoption on a first-come-first-serve basis. According to California law, all adoptable dogs and cats must be spayed and neutered before leaving our facility. If interested in adopting an animal, please contact the shelter directly.
Current shelter hours during the COVID-19 pandemic are Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday. You can contact the shelter at 257-9200.

LMUD Names 2022 Scholarship Recipients
Lassen Municipal Utility District has announced the names of the utility’s 2022 LMUD Community Scholarship recipients. They are Ezra Luedecke, Alliyah Yerington, Trysta Spangle and Hailey Gregor. Spangle and Gregor received continuing college student scholarships.
Yerington is the daughter of Tasia Harrison of Susanville. She will attend Vanderbilt University this fall, studying psychology, to earn a doctorate in pediatric occupational therapy. She served as Miss Lassen County 2022 and was valedictorian of the Lassen High School Class of 2022.
As valedictorian of Thompson Peak Charter School, Luedecke exemplifies what it means to serve the community. The son of Glenn and Sabine Luedecke of Susanville, he identified his goal of becoming a teacher early on.

He is pursuing a degree from Western Governors University. Luedeke not only graduated at the top of his high school class, but he also did so with thirty-five college credits from Lassen Community College.
Since graduating, Luedeke has taken the paraeducator test and passed with flying colors. He is hoping to return to Thompson Peak Charter in the fall, not as a student but as a para-educator.
“LMUD scholarships are funded through the district’s Public Benefits program,” explains LMUD Public Relations Manager Theresa Philips.
“Each year, two $1,250 and one $500 scholarships are awarded to students who attend school in the district’s service territory and whose parents or guardians reside in a home served by LMUD. This year, due to a surplus in the scholarship fund, LMUD awarded two continuing college student scholarships.”
“Congratulations to Ezra, Alliyah, Trysta and Hailey. LMUD is proud to contribute to your academic success.”

Attention Sierra County, Cal.!
August 15, 1929
The Highway from Reno, through Susanville to Red Bluff, is in fair shape, with the exception of a strip of rough road that lies in one corner of Sierra Country, California.
This road is being used more and more, particularly by northbound tourists who use this cutoff as a time saver. T has but recently been called to the tourists’ attention, although many Nevadans have for a long time used it as a shorter way north, saving many hours of driving.
The strip of highway in Sierra County is the worst stretch of road. It is bumpy, full of ruts and poorly kept.
Lassen County has seen fit to make improvements until the highway through that county is as good as it is elsewhere.
It is a poor recommendation for any county to let an important strip of highway go by the board. To the average home seeker roads are important.
Sierra County would profit by spending a few thousand dollars on keeping up their end of this important highway.
