Snow Removing Equipment out for Light Fall

December 31, 1938

Approximately three inches of new snow covers the Fredonyer Summit this morning, it was reported by the California State Automobile Association and the California Highway Commission.

It was reported that the trip to Westwood may be made without the use of chains, but it is advisable to carry them. A slow rain is clearing the snow, but the highway department has sent out snow removing equipment.

Highway Open

The Deer Creek Highway is open, although if the present storm continues, it may be closed for the winter, the Automobile Association reported.

Highway Superintendent R. L. Hollis announced that approximately half a dozen of the local highway employees have received radio licenses preparatory to the installation of both sending and receiving equipment on snow removing machinery.

Installation will take place in the next two weeks. Names of the license recipients were unavailable.
