Randy Robbins Photography Fundraiser for Ayden Yerington
As the community prepares to gather uptown this Saturday, December 6th, for the annual Magical Country Christmas celebration, local outdoor-adventure photographer Randy Robbins is transforming the holiday spirit into tangible support for a local family in need.
Randy Robbins Photography, located at A Thousand Windows Photo Gallery, 800 Main Street, is hosting a special fundraising Opportunity Drawing to benefit Ayden Yerington, a local 12-year-old currently battling stage 4 cancer.
“Ayden is a courageous kid, and if you are local, you have probably seen various fundraisers this year in support of this family,” said Randy Robbins. “Like many of you, we have known this family for years. We’ve been looking for the best opportunity to help, and we think this is it. We’re hoping the community rallies together to make this a big fundraiser.”
| | | |
The Prize
The winner of the drawing will receive a stunning 30″x20″ metal print of one of Robbins’ most popular images, “Beach Day,” valued at $550. The image features a family of brown bears on the shore of Naknek Lake in Alaska.
“Ayden’s mom, Tasia, has four ‘cubs’ just like our family, and this image seemed appropriate,” Robbins explained.
“The print is on display in the gallery this week. It is already printed and ready, and someone will take it home Saturday night.”
How to Enter
Participants can obtain tickets at the gallery (sharing the location with the Law Office of Jill Robbins) at 800 Main Street today and tomorrow from 11:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.
On Saturday the gallery will be open all evening during the Magical Country Christmas celebration.
Donation Details & Legalities
Organizers want to be clear that this is an “Opportunity Drawing,” not a raffle. “There are legalities surrounding fundraising raffles—and my wife is an attorney—so we want to be transparent,” Robbins noted. “You do not have to purchase anything to be entered to win. Each individual can request one free entry ticket, and a donation does not improve your chances of winning.”
However, the organizers are encouraging a suggested donation of $10 per ticket, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Ayden’s family. Donations can be made via Cash, Check, Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay or Credit Card.
The Drawing The winning ticket will be drawn at random this Saturday at 7:00p.m., immediately following the fireworks and tree lighting. The drawing will likely take place on the plaza right outside the gallery.
“The winner does not have to be present to win; we will track them down,” said Robbins. “But if they are present, they can take the print home that very night.”
Come uptown for the parade and fireworks, and stop by the gallery to support a courageous young member of the Susanville community.

SIR Housing Authority Chairman Robert Joseph cuts the ribbon at last Monday’s ceremony.
Home for the Holidays: SIR Celebrates Completion of New Housing Project
On a crisp Monday morning, just days before families would gather around dining tables for Thanksgiving, the Susanville Indian Rancheria Housing Authority celebrated a milestone that gave ten local families a profound reason to be thankful this year.
On November 24th, members of the Tribal Business Council, local dignitaries, and construction partners gathered on Paiute Lane to officially cut the ribbon on a brand-new housing development. The atmosphere was one of relief and celebration, marking the end of a construction schedule that was aggressively fast-tracked with a singular, compassionate goal: to get residents moved in before Thanksgiving Day.
The ceremony began not with speeches, but with spirit. Gordon Crutcher offered a traditional tribal blessing outside the newly built units, grounding the modern development in cultural tradition before the crowd of dignitaries and community members.
The newly completed project adds ten much-needed residences to the community inventory. The development was designed with the demographic needs of the tribe in mind, consisting of six units for tribal families and four units specifically dedicated to tribal elders.
Remarks were given by Tribal Chairman Arian Hart, who expressed deep appreciation for the work done to bring the project to fruition, praising the Housing Authority for their vision. Housing Authority Chairman Robert Joseph also spoke, marking the significance of expanding housing opportunities for the tribe.
Project Manager Phil Bush provided the technical context of the build, highlighting a unique aspect of this specific development. He noted that while SIR projects are typically constructed on tribal land, this project was built outside those specific confines, which can often complicate the regulatory and construction process. Bush extended special thanks to the City of Susanville for their cooperation and partnership in navigating those complexities.
Bush also reserved high praise for Kirack Construction, the general contractor. Acknowledging the pressure of the timeline, Bush thanked the Kirack team for finishing the ten units in “record time.” Their push ensured that the new residents could settle in before the harsh winter weather arrived and, most importantly, celebrate the holidays in the comfort of a new home.
The work on Paiute Lane, however, is far from finished. Even as the ribbon fell on these ten units, the SIR Housing Authority is already looking toward the future. Construction is currently underway on four additional tribal elder housing units located immediately adjacent to the newly completed site, continuing the momentum of community growth.
For the families moving in last week, the timing couldn’t be better. The project stands as a testament to what can happen when a community, a city, and a contractor work together against the clock.

Wreaths Across America: Help the Blue Star Moms Honor Local Heroes December 13th
Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms invite the Susanville community to join them on National Wreaths Across America Day to honor fallen veterans at Diamond Crest Cemetery. The ceremony will take place on December 13th, at 12:00p.m.
National Wreaths Across America Day is a movement to remember, honor, and teach about the sacrifices made by our veterans. Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms are honoring local heroes by sponsoring wreaths to be placed on veterans’ graves at Diamond Crest Cemetery.
| | | |
Everyone is invited to join us in this wonderful event to honor their loved ones, and if you would like to place an order, the Blue Star Moms can honor any veteran with a wreath. It’s a meaningful way to remember those who are no longer with us and to express our gratitude for their service.
Community members are encouraged to sponsor a wreath to be placed at the ceremony. You can sponsor a wreath for only 17 dollars.
What does it mean to sponsor a wreath? Sponsoring a veteran’s wreath is a personal gift of gratitude and remembrance for someone who served this country so that we can be free.
Your sponsorship supports the yearlong mission to remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach the next generation the value of freedom, while making new and existing free programs available to the masses. With each sponsorship made, a veteran’s wreath will be placed to honor an American hero.
Click here for details about wreath sponsorship.

December 4, 1925
At a meeting last night with Carl Dodge and Andrew Haight of Fallon, Nevada, steps for the organization of a Rotary Club for Susanville were taken.
International Rotary requires that at least fifteen may form a Rotary club. Twenty persons have signed in Susanville for a Rotary and the necessary signatures were taken to Fallon today by Messrs. Dodge and Andrew Haight. Each new Rotary Club is supposed to sponsor another club and Fallon has been the sponsor for Susanville.
Directors elected last night by the members were J. B. Spaulding, C. H. Bridges, J. A. Pardee, Tom Blight, J. C. Worley, B. D. Cardinal and A. J. Mathews. The directors elected as officers the following: President, Jno. B. Spaulding, Vice-President, J. A. Pardoe, Treasurer, C. H. Bridges, Secretary, E. L. Shirley and Sergeant at Arms Harry Coleman.
Wednesday was decided upon as the luncheon day and the meeting place as the Hotel Mt. Lassen where Mr. Coffin the lessee will have a private dining room capable of accommodating fifty persons.
The application for a charter will be forwarded at once by the Fallon Rotary to international and the charter will probably be received some time in January.
The Objects of Rotary Are:
To encourage and foster:
(a) The ideal of service as the basis of all worthy enterprise.
(b) High ethical standards in business and profession.
(c) The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his personal, business, and community life.
(d) The development of acquaintances as an opportunity for service.
(e) The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
