The 150 year-old Elks Lodge, at the top of Susanville’s Main Street, is available for party and event rentals and includes a bar, several separate meeting rooms, a main hall and a kitchen for event catering. Call 1.530.257.4810 for more information.
Wanderlust Photography LLC
Wanderlust Photography will soon be opening up a new indoor studio in the Susanville Mall in uptown Susanville.
Owner, Kiersten Ladd, is planning for it to be a space for lifestyle, boudoir, portraits, newborns and cake smash photos.
Kiersten will still be doing her outdoor photography, but for days when the weather is unfavorable there will be a backup option to use the indoor studio.
Kiersten told us, “I’m very excited about this next step with Wanderlust Photography. Photography has been a passion of mine since I was younger and have been actively doing photography since 2013. I cannot wait to officially open the studio, which will have a bohemian lifestyle theme. I will be posting updates on my photography page as the studio comes together.”

Two Arrested After Traffic Stop
Yields Fentanyl and Paraphernalia
Two people were arrested Thursday evening after Susanville Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration near Riverside Drive and Safeway and discovered nearly 25 grams of Fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
The driver was identified by the Susanville Police Department as 46-year-old Litchfield resident Robert Fitzgerald, and his passenger, 38-year-old Susanville resident Ashlee Richardson.
| |
|
“While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, an officer could see drug paraphernalia behind the driver’s seat on the floor,” explains Interim Chief of Police Michael Bollinger. | |
Evidence seized by police during Thursday evening’s traffic stop
Susanville Police K-9 Zeke was employed in searching the vehicle.
“Zeke alerted on the passenger side of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in approximately 16.7 grams of suspected Fentanyl found in the front seat area. Officers located approximately 8.8 grams of suspected Fentanyl on the person of Mr. Fitzgerald.”
According to Bollinger both subjects were arrested for Possession for Sale of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fitzgerald was also arrested for Violation of Probation. An investigation is ongoing at this time.

February 14th ‘Helping One Woman’ Event to Benefit Christi Myers
A fundraiser being held February 14th in Sparks, Nevada, will benefit Christi Myers, the Director of Nursing at Lassen Community College, an incredibly active member of our community and an all-around wonderful person, who was diagnosed with Lobular Invasive Carcinoma three months ago.
“In October, I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” Myers explained on social media.
| |
|
“I want to assure you all that I am taking every step necessary to fight it with strength, courage, and a positive mindset. My journey to better health is not over but I am optimistic about the care I am receiving. I’m over half way through chemo, which is a big win, and better days are in sight.”
Christi’s husband Leon, who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, is fighting his own battle, beginning radiation therapy on January 15th.
Six years ago, Christi and Leon’s son Xander grappled with a rare form of pediatric follicular lymphoma at the age of five.
Wednesday’s fundraiser is hosted by the Sparks chapter of ‘Helping One Woman’ and will be held at Cantina Los Tres Hombres, 1180 Scheels Dr. Suite B 111 beginning at 5:30p.m.
Reservations will be accepted until Sunday, February 11th.
Dinner is $22 and includes entrée, tax and tip. Click here for complete information and to purchase tickets online.

Storms Cause Damage, Limit Operations at BLM Litchfield Corrals
The Bureau of Land Management has announced curtailed operations at the Litchfield Wild Horse and Burro Corrals near Susanville, as winter storms have caused damage to the office lobby and created unsafe conditions for moving animals to adoption loading areas.
The entire facility will be closed to the public this week, and corrals will reopen for animal viewing when conditions improve.
“Conditions inside the pens are not posing any danger or discomfort for the horses and burros,” said Emily Ryan, manager of the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office which oversees corral operations.
| |
|
“We are feeding on our normal schedule, and the water system is operating normally. The pens are large, up to five acres, and the surface is compacted and rocky in areas, so deep mud is not an issue.”
The office is temporarily closed to the public due to a partial ceiling collapse and will remain closed until repairs are completed.
Those who have selected animals for adoption can complete their applications and adoption agreements via email. They will be able to pick up their animals when conditions improve.
Those who select animals when the corrals reopen for viewing will also have email options for completing their adoption agreements.
More information is available from the Litchfield Corrals at 1.530.254.6575.
