Susanville Supermarket IGA
You can now shop Susanville Supermarket IGA online and have your groceries delivered the same day by Instacart. Point, click and have everything delivered to your doorstep.

|
According to store owner Jessica Miller the Instacart option has been available for a while, but the store did not want to launch it until everything was perfect.
“The problem was it was still too new to our area and with limited drivers it did not do well the first time around so we put a pause on the Instacart side until a few months ago,” explains Miller.
“With more drivers and more businesses involved we have seen not only an increase in orders, but an increase in the positive feedback about Instacart.”
Miller also said that they are still using their older online shopping system, called Rosie, for those customers who would prefer to pick up the order and have IGA’s knowledgeable staff put it together.
“Instacart can be a great tool when there isn’t enough time in your day – let someone else do your shopping for you! You have the ability to be as vague or as specific as you want to be on each item that gets put in the cart and I personally have had some really great instacart shoppers!”

Register Now for the 30th Annual Paiute Meadows Trail Run
Lassen Land and Trails Trust will be teaming up with the Bizz Running Company on Saturday, May 10th, to host the 30th annual Paiute Meadows Trail Run at Susanville Ranch Park, the region’s premiere trail system, featuring a 50K, a 50K two-person relay, a 30K, a 1/2 Marathon and a 4.5 Miler and a one-mile kid’s run.
According to organizers, the 4.5-mile course is the traditional cornerstone of all three distances as it twists and turns through towering pines, beautiful meadows and challenging climbs. The 50K, 50K Relay, 30K, and half-marathon courses rival any true trail race in the region, with challenging climbs, water crossings and a variety of terrain.
Featuring mostly single-track trails, runners experience breathtaking views as they run through a variety of beautiful landscapes at Susanville Ranch Park on the outskirts of town.
The free one-mile Kids’ Trail Race is for kids twelve and under.
With almost five thousand feet of elevation climb in Susanville Ranch Park, the 50K race (31 miles) is a challenging, yet rewarding, course. Traversing lush meadows, pine-covered forests, spring-fed creeks, lava flows, and wildflower-covered hillsides, the course rises to reveal a spectacular vista of the entire Honey Lake Valley.
The 13.7-mile trail half-marathon follows some of the 50k course, including the final downhill thrill of locally named Heart Attack Hill. It is the perfect course for those who are not ready to tackle the 50k distance.
Everyone is encouraged to come out to the run and cheer on their favorite participants.
Race packet pickup will be hosted at the Susanville Historic Train Depot, 601 Richmond Road, on May 9th, from 10:00a.m. until 6:00p.m. Late registration will be offered at packet pickup.
For those runners who are driving in on race morning, race packet pickup at Susanville Ranch Park will start at 6:00a.m. There will be absolutely no race day registration.
Complete race details and registration information are available at bizzrunningcompany.com. Any questions may be directed to Race Director Linda Powell at bizzrunningcompany@gmail.com. Registration closes May 10th.

Sheriff Church Ordered to Work Prisoners
March 6, 1922
The board of supervisors at their session this week issued an order to Sheriff Church that the county prisoners who were confined in the county jail be required to do such work as the board might designate.
It was ordered that the snow on the sidewalks be immediately removed.
The Sheriff was called before the board on Tuesday and asked his views with refence to the working of the prisoners.
He stated that he was of the opinion that nothing would be gained by having them work, however, as three meals a day would have to be given them and an extra man employed in the capacity of a guard.
It was his opinion further that the amount of work they would perform would not be enough to compensate for the hiring of additional help.
He stated, however, that he would immediately get them busy cleaning the sidewalks of snow.
