Five Local Elks Hoop Shoot Competitors Going to February Regionals

Five local basketball free-throw artists will be heading to the regional competition in February after winning at the Susanville Elks Lodge’s free annual Hoop Shoot contest for area students last weekend.

The local competition was held at the Johnstonville Elementary School on November 5th, with boys and girls ages 8 to 13 competing for a chance to move on to regionals.

The Hoop Shoot contest requires players to shoot free throws, with the highest scorers advancing.

There were nine competitors at the local Elks Hoop Shoot competition. The winners from the event were Madison Evans in the girls 8-9 division; Ryan Alkire in 8-9 boys division; Ryleigh Evans in the girls 10-11 division; Ruger Bomhardt in the boys 10-11 division; and Rudy Alkire in the boys 12-13 division.

Great Job to all the contestants and congratulations to our winners. Good Luck at the Regional Competition!

Lake Almanor Community Church

Hosting Free Christmas Concert

Lake Almanor Community Church will hold a special, free Christmas Concert December 3rd, featuring Grammy nominated artists, ‘Sisters.’

Kim Ruppe Sheffield, Heather Ruppe Bennett, and Valerie Ruppe Medkiff, all sisters, tour the country, reaching out to people of all ages and musical tastes.

Accolades for Sisters includes Gospel Music’s six-time Female Group of the Year, Progressive Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Fan Award and Dove Award.

The church is located at 2610 Highway A-13 at Lake Almanor.

Johnstonville School Holding Annual “Share the Warmth” Winter Clothing Drive this Week

Give the gift of comfort and warmth to those less fortunate this holiday season! Johnstonville School’s annual “Share the Warmth” coat drive, a partnership between all schools within Lassen County is underway, and coats will be collected until this Friday, November 18th.

Anyone wishing to donate new or gently used coats, jackets, hats, scarves, gloves and/or blankets for all ages can drop the items off at any school in Lassen County or the Lassen County Office of Education across from the airport in Johnstonville.

In addition, each of these sites will accept cash donations.

Two Accused

Robbery on Lonely Road Charged

November 14, 1932

Harry Tate and F. W. Moorman were held to answer in the superior court following their preliminary hearing before Justice Godman at Ravendale.

Tate and Moorman are charged with the robbery of Roland Ward, driver of a truck for the Susanville Bottling Works, on a lonely stretch of road near Madeline. The accused men gave their address as Klamath Falls, Ore.

Honey Lake Post is Highly Popular

To date, there are 12 petitions being circulated by candidates for the position of constable of the Honey Lake township to fill the vacancy caused by the death of William Tremain.

Those petitioning for the position are Ford Clark, H. Pettenenelli, A. Ganyon, G. R. Dobyns, T. Clement, L. Hemler, S. Ancelli, E. Minchell, L. Dozier, George Dieter, E. M. Wilson and E. Bennett.

The board of supervisors will meet Monday, when an appointment will be made.
