A Message from Our Principals |
Dear Webb Middle School Families,
As winter makes its frosty appearance, it’s crucial to emphasize the importance of maintaining strong attendance for our students. Just like each snowflake contributes to the beauty of winter, every day of school attendance plays a vital role in our students’ academic success.
☀️ Snowballing Success Through Attendance:
Consistent attendance is the key to unlocking academic achievement. Just as a snowball grows in size as it rolls downhill, so does the knowledge and skills our students accumulate when they attend school regularly. The more days they are present, the more they can engage with the curriculum and build a solid educational foundation.
❄️ Avoiding the Winter Blues:
While winter may bring colder temperatures and shorter days, it shouldn’t cast a chill on our commitment to learning. Regular attendance ensures that students remain connected with their teachers, classmates, and the learning environment, fostering a sense of warmth and community even in the coldest months.
⛄️ Building Resilience:
Just as snow covers the ground, challenges are a natural part of the educational journey. Attending school regularly helps students develop resilience and adaptability, essential qualities that will serve them well in facing the inevitable challenges that lie ahead.
👥 Teamwork Makes the Dream Work:
Winter is a season for teamwork, and the same holds true for the school community. When students attend consistently, they contribute to a positive and collaborative learning environment, fostering a spirit of togetherness.
Thank you for your continued support in reinforcing the importance of strong attendance during the winter months. Together, we can ensure that our students thrive academically and embrace the season of learning with enthusiasm.
Wishing you all a joyful and successful winter season!

Greetings from the classrooms of Mrs. Reynolds!
During this first quarter of the year and beyond, Mrs. Reynolds's language arts classes have been quite busy! To date, we have covered an extensive unit focusing on O.Henry, his use of ironic plot twists, and the plotline of short stories. Then, using our knowledge of the plot diagram, students read an independent fiction novel and created/shared their own plot diagrams by using Canva, creating a comic strip, or drawing a poster. Additionally, students read a fun play, "The Mystery of the Suffocated Seventh Grader," and we discussed the power a rumor has. Also, we reviewed and learned additional information concerning sentence structures and sentence parts, and of course, we continue to put this knowledge to good use each time we write sentences, short responses, and soon... an essay! Currently, students are reading poems and short stories written by "The Master of the Macabre," Edgar Allan Poe. After Thanksgiving break we will wrap up our Poe unit with an escape room centered around his most famous short story, "The Tell-Tale Heart." Then, we will make our way into writing a full-length essay about the various roles each of us plays in our daily lives. A reminder, too: students should be reading their second fiction book at home, as their next project, a "Book at a Glance" board, is due January 16. Details for this project, as well as weekly plans, can be found in my Google Classroom stream, which is updated each Monday. So far, I think we are off to a fabulous start!

Serving Up a Writing Project
In early November, students in Ms. Bolton's Language class worked on a recipe writing project. They spent a week’s worth of hard work, using their creativity to design their own unique tri-fold boards, which included ingredients and instructions of the recipe they researched.
At the end of the week, the students prepared speeches for their presentations, which were shared with fellow staff members here at Webb.
The “cherry on top” of this project? They brought in samples of their chosen, allowing teachers and other classmates to try!
It was a total success, and all students were very much engaged throughout the whole experience.
I’m super proud of the effort they put into this project. It was really cool to see how involved and excited they were to share their hard work with others. A special shoutout is in order for these awesome 6th graders.

CUPCAKE WARS CHALLENGE!
Life Skills students have been involved in some pretty stiff competition lately…a baking competition, that is. During Cupcake Wars, students were asked to promote their new bakery business that specializes in creating creative cupcakes. Each team was asked to design a unique and flavorful cupcake to present to the judges. Scores were based on flavor, texture, appearance, and student presentation. Students had fun designing, marketing, baking, sampling, and serving one-of-a-kind cupcakes to the judges here at Webb.
