Description:


This is a 3 part training on Advanced Child Centered Play Therapy and on Filial Therapy, which is a well-researched and highly effective psycho-educational skills training model that integrates "the magic" of Child-Centered Play Therapy and direct parent involvement in the change process The training will include brief lectures, live and videotaped demonstrations, skill building practice sessions, case discussions with video clips which will illustrate both individual and group models of the modalities. Break out rooms will be utilized for roles plays and skill practice.


Objectives:


  • Identify basic tenets of Child-Centered Play Therapy including Virginia Axline’s 8 Principles
  • Describe and demonstrate the advanced play therapy skill of empathic listening
  • Explain the meaning of Filial Therapy being an integrative therapy and describe the theories that are part of this play therapy model
  • Describe the three phases of the Filial Therapy model of play therapy
  • Describe in what ways the Filial Therapy model of play therapy is respectful of diversity
  • Describe and demonstrate the basic 4 play therapy skills taught to parents
  • State how the process of teaching parents to conduct play sessions in Filial Therapy
  • State how to help parents understand their children's play, so that they can deepen their understanding how the play therapy is working and how it relates to the child’s problems
  • Explain how to provide constructive feedback on the play sessions to parents facilitating parent skill development
  • State ways to help a parent process a difficult situation arising in a play session
  • Describe how utilize the different stages of Child Centered Play Therapy to assess the child’s progress in both CCPT and Filial Therapy
  • Describe strategies to work with common problems in CCPT and in Filial.

Jeannette Harroun is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Arizona and a registered play therapist-supervisor. She is in private practice, is a trainer/partner with Growth Through Play Training Associates and a clinical supervisor both through her practice and with the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. Her play therapy training includes intensive and advanced coursework in child-centered play, sandtray and filial therapy.

Written notification of cancellation must be received in our office at least 10 business days prior to a training for a refund. A $25.00 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund. There will be no refund for cancellation notification less than 10 business days.


CBPS reserves the right to cancel a training due to inclement weather or insufficient enrollment. In the event of such cancellation, you will receive a full refund. 


Cancelling your Zoom meeting registration does not constitute cancellation of your CBPS session registration. Please refer to our cancellation policy in the training announcement, which supersedes all other mentions of options to cancel your registration.
