Building Climate Resilience in Lake County: Tribal-led Collaborative Strategies for Extreme Heat

Lake County faces increasing climate-driven threats, including a high incidence of heat-related illness and dangerous cyanotoxin levels from HABs.

While many Tribes, county agencies, and organizations in the county have developed their own resilience efforts, a coordinated, cross-sector response is essential to protecting community health.

The CHARM project is being conducted in partnership with the Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians, along with other Tribal, community, and government organizations.

Speakers from this webinar include Sarah Ryan, Big Valley Band of Pomo Indian's Environmental Director and MK Youngblood, Chief Officer of Emergency Management at the California Tribal Emergency Response & Relief Agency (CALTERRA).

This webinar will provide an overview of CHARM's work, including:

• Insights from a Tribal-led cross-sector tabletop exercise simulating an extreme heat event
• Key findings from community data collection on climate health impacts
• Project reflections, lessons learned, and challenges

This webinar will share an example of how Tribes, county agencies, and community organizations in a rural county collaborated to assess and plan for climate resilience.
