Exploring Your Medicare Options

Whether you're enrolling in Medicare for the first time or are thinking about changing your current coverage, it's important to understand your options.
In this 30-minute presentation, Michelle Gucciardi, Program Coordinator with the nonprofit organization Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone (SHINE), will provide an unbiased, high-level overview of Medicare, with a focus on:
- What to keep in mind when choosing between basic Medicare and Medicare Advantage options.
- What’s new in Medicare in 2023, including changes related to the Inflation Reduction Act.
- A summary of what you can do during Medicare’s Fall Open Enrollment Period.
- How to find State Health Insurance Assistance Program counselors in your state who can provide free, unbiased analysis of your Medicare options.

Michelle Gucciardi is the Program Coordinator for the MetroWest SHINE Program based in Needham, MA and has been a certified SHINE counselor since 2017. SHINE is a federally-funded program through the Administration of Community Living that provides free, unbiased and confidential health insurance counseling for Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers.
