Prospect Place is new affordable housing in Northampton - lottery closes August 31st!

The National Council of Nonprofits has announced a new campaign: Nonprofits Get It Done. This campaign shines a spotlight on the essential support nonprofits provide Americans. From crisis response to food assistance to veteran services, nonprofits are on the ground every day, solving problems and meeting critical needs.

The goal is to build public support that inspires lawmakers to champion policies that protect and strengthen nonprofits, and make it possible for us to provide vital assistance to community members. NCN wants to remind citizens and decision makers that nonprofits embody the “neighbors helping neighbors” ethos that is a central part of American society.

AGO webinar specially for nonprofit organizations

This webinar will focus on the changing and challenging landscape currently facing non-profit organizations. This is the first in a new series of webinars hosted by the AGO's Non-Profit Organizations Public Charities Division specifically designed to address the needs of non-profit organizations that now face a changed funding and policy landscape as a result of the new federal administration.

33 King Street, Northampton to be housing and more

Northampton has signed a Provisional Development Agreement with a local team that will transform 33 King Street, the former Probate Court parcel, into a mixed-use, mixed-income addition to downtown. The team consists of The Community Builders, Inc., and Valley Community Development. The approach will include two five-story buildings with commercial space and a total of 92 residential units serving the needs of residents with incomes ranging at or below 30% - 120% of Area Median Income.

Flexible Funding from Community Foundation

Flexible Funding from the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts aims to provide unrestricted financial support to sustain day-to-day operations of organizations, enabling agencies to focus on their mission. Organizations in CFWM’s strategic focus areas can serve Franklin, Hampden, and/or Hampshire Counties. Organizations working in their additional focus areas are limited to Springfield or Franklin County. CFWM prioritizes organizations deeply rooted in their communities.

Apply before September 8th

The Northampton Annual Vigil in honor of International Overdose Awareness Day on Thursday, August 28 from 6-8 PM at Forbes Library Lawn. This event is co-sponsored and supported by Hampshire HOPE, Tapestry, Northampton Recovery Center, DART, Learn to Cope West, the DCC, UMass Recovery, Forbes Library, the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, and the Northampton Department of Health & Human Services.

They invite community members to come together in honoring and remembering those we lost and creating space for individual and collective healing. Purple hearts will be available to write the name of a loved one, refreshments will be available for attendees, and a wide range of resources will be accessible depending on the support or outlets needed initially before shifting into vigil in which candles will be provided.

This year’s IOAD theme is One Big Family Driven by Hope – we strive to embody this message through wide-reaching engagement and attendance of community members followed by renewed commitment to this work as we move forward.
