Website Changes Coming Soon
We will soon release a few bug fixes to the website. These changes are being made in response to requests submitted through the Website Enhancement Form on the Support Center.
The changes include:
-
Mentor Layout Block Fixes – The mentor block that many chapters use on their local mentors page is receiving an update. We are removing the profile display limit so that all active mentors will be displayed on the page, instead of only displaying the first 50 mentors. We are also adding randomization of the profiles so that the order of the profiles is changed every time you visit or refresh the page.
-
Success Story Search Page – On the old website, we had a search page specifically for success stories. This page will soon be available on the website and will function the same way as the current event and template search. Clients will be able to visit the page to see success stories from across the nation or they can use the location filter to view local success stories. The stories can also be filtered by business topic, business stage, entrepreneur type and industry.
Our goal is to release these fixes to the website next week. You can learn more about these changes in the Release Notes.
There are other features currently in development that will be released to the website by June 30. We will collaborate with our volunteer task force to test these changes before they go live.
These major features include:
-
Mentor Matchmaker – The Mentor Matchmaker is a reimagined mentor search that asks clients to select their search criteria, then displays a streamlined list of mentors that are a match. The goal of this feature is to simplify a client’s ability to find the expertise they need. We believe this improves the current mentor search experience as it displays all active and available mentors, even if you’re not accepting direct requests. It also prioritizes local mentors by listing those first in the list if they match the client’s search criteria. Our goal is to release the Matchmaker by the end of the month or very soon thereafter. Learn more about this feature.
-
Simplified Main Menu – We’ve heard that the menu experience can be confusing for volunteers and clients. We’re working on improvements to make it easier for website users to get to the services and content they need quickly and easily.
-
Taxonomy Hierarchy – Last year, we introduced an expanded list of business topics/areas of expertise. In this update, we will add a 2-tier hierarchy to these terms and add ‘Buying or Selling a Business’ as an option. This change will shorten the list of initial options that clients will see on the website and allow them to expand the parent terms to see the full list of more detailed options beneath it. For example, Marketing will be the parent term in the new list and detailed topics such as social media and branding will be under that topic. These changes will be available on the website as well as in Engage. More details will be shared as we get closer to testing.
-
Authenticated Experience – Clients will be able to create a profile on the SCORE.org website to save content and get personalized recommendations based on their data. Through this feature, we will also provide 1-click registration for services so that clients don’t have to fill out the same information repeatedly to watch a recorded webinar or to request a mentor. The information clients provide in their profile will sync with their Engage client record, giving you up-to-date information about your clients.
-
Gated Content – We will provide the option for webmasters to add a lead generation form for resources on the website. This will allow you to provide a “gate” on high-value content to collect client information that you can use for marketing purposes.
Please Note: These are only the major changes in development. There are other bug fixes and enhancements in the backlog that will also be released in the coming weeks. We’ll provide updates through the Enhancement Request Form.
