International Day of Prayer:
Guest Speaker November 4th at 9:00am
Sunday, November 4th, is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church.
To mark the occasion, the Fleming Community Group invites everyone to hear a special speaker at 9:00 am on November 4th in the lower level of the Learning Center.
About the speaker: William Stark is the Senior Regional Manager for International Christian Concern (ICC) and has served in South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. This has allowed him to serve the persecuted firsthand in some of the world's most difficult nations, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Nigeria, and Egypt. He has authored numerous articles and is recognized as a subject matter expert on the topic of persecution.

Thank You for Helping Furnish
the Family Center!
Thank you to everyone who donated money during the month of October to help us furnish our new Family Center. Every donation, no matter how big or small, is very much appreciated! Your generosity and support for this project is amazing!
During our October campaign we were able to raise approximately $2,730! This is huge! If you still wish to donate, you can put your donation (cash or check) in a specially marked envelope and put it in the offering plate. Envelopes are available at the Kids Connection/Fusion sign in table.
If you have any questions, please contact Katie Conaway (
[email protected]
). Thank you again for all your support!

Thanksgiving Turkeys Needed
Central Union Mission is in need of turkeys to pass out at their next Senior Fellowship scheduled for Friday, November 16th. They've asked Knollwood if we could provide 50 turkeys for this event. They are expecting more than 200 seniors to attend.
There are two ways to support this effort. You can provide a monetary donation by making a check out to Knollwood and write in the memo section Central Union Mission Turkey. Or, you can provide a frozen turkey; please email
or call Glenn Keller ([email protected], 703-250-6059) to make arrangements for delivery.
All checks must be in by November 11th. The deadline for frozen turkeys is November 14th. Thank you!

Service Opportunities: ECHO
Hebrews 13:16 says, "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." Looking for a place and way to serve our community? The service organization focus for October is Ecumenical Community Helping Others (ECHO). ECHO gives food and financial help to people with short-term emergencies, and provides clothes and household items to people with low incomes. It is located at 7205 Old Keene Mill Road.
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities at ECHO: working with food donations on Friday mornings, assisting with the Donation Door, assisting with clothing donations, speaking Spanish with clients on the phone or translating for Family Counselors, or working as a Family Counselor. A list of needed supplies is available on their website: www.echo-inc.org .
Upcoming events:
- November 18, 2pm: Annual Burke CROP Hunger Walk
- December 1: Deadline to be paired with a family to provide a Christmas meal

November Prayer for the Persecuted
Praise God for the release of U.S Pastor Andrew Brunson who was imprisoned in Turkey based on false accusations. Pastor Brunson, from North Carolina faced the possibility of 35 years in prison on Charges of "committing crimes on behalf of terror groups..." Thanks to the many prayers of Christians and the intervention by our government, Pastor Brunson is now safely in the United States.
False accusations against Christians are one of the ways that can lead to imprisonment and violence and which are also used to bar believers from politics and public life in many countries. Christians in Pakistan have become very vulnerable to being falsely accused under their country's "blasphemy law." Asia Bibi has been in a Pakistani prison for nine years under this blasphemy law. As a former Muslim who became a Christian she is accused of offering water to two Muslims at her workplace. As an "unclean" person, that is against the law in Pakistan. Christians in high profile positions in countries where they are a minority are extremely vulnerable to false allegations and rumors.
Please pray that God would protect Christian pastors, workers and believers from false accusations in countries where they are the minority.
