HELLO! FROM THE PRIVACY & INFORMATION SECURITY DEPARTMENT
Happy National Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
In this edition, we visit the official website of the Department of Homeland Security. This website is a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that all users of technology have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.
Phishing attacks use email or malicious websites to infect your machine with malware and viruses in order to collect personal and financial information. When users respond with information or click on a link, attackers use it to access users' accounts.
The Internet touches almost all aspects of our daily lives. These activities require you to provide personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, date of birth, account numbers and other information. Be cybersmart when sharing personal information.
More and more our home devices-including thermostats, door locks, coffee machines and smoke alarms are now connected to the Internet. Connect with confidence.
