PRAISE HIM

There is a denomination that forbids musical instruments to be played during their worship service. They sing a cappella. However, scripture advocates the use of musical instruments when we worship.  Psalm 150 tells us to praise God with trumpets, psaltery, and harps [vs. 3]and with timbrels, stringed instruments, and organs [vs. 4], and cymbals [vs. 5]. God loves our worship with or without musical instruments. Our every breath praises Him.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord [vs. 6]. Every plant, tree, or herb has breath [respiration] all for the glory of the Lord. Our very act of breathing gives praise to Him even though we might not realize it. Even the breath of an atheist gives God praise although the person does not realize it. 

If then our every breath is a praise to God, how much greater is the impact of our breath when we consciously and deliberately open our mouth in song, or in praise to tell of his marvelous grace and works? It would do us good to read Psalm 150 aloud at least once a week, if not more often.

Praise Him, Praise Him, Jesus our Blessed Redeemer

Sing, Oh earth, His wonderful love proclaim

Hail Him, Hail Him, highest arch angels in glory

Praise and honor give to His Holy name.

Christ is coming, over the world victorious

Power and glory unto the Lord belong.

LOVE NEVER FAILS

I have been to many different conferences and meetings where the gifts of those in leadership brought miracles, signs, and wonders. I have seen people come out of wheelchairs. I have seen growths fall of people’s skin when prayed for. I have seen those that had difficulty walking healed. I have seen cancer healed instantly.

One would be amazed and overwhelmed by these things. Many believers follow after those that operate in healing and prophetic gifts.

I have also personally seen some of those leaders act very disrespectfully, as if they are above others and think they are God’s pets. I have seen them look down on the poor, and ignore those in need.

We are told by Jesus in John 13:35 how to determine if we are truly a disciple of Jesus. It says, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

It isn’t the giftings that make us a great Christian. It is the love we show through our lives.   1 Corinthians 13:13 nails it where it says, “And now abideth faith, hope, charity [love], these three; but the greatest of these is charity [ love]. 

Without love we are like a clanging cymbal [1 Cor. 13:1] We could do wonderful work feeding the poor and helping the unfortunate, but without love being our motive it is useless.

Love never fails my friend. Gifts will cease. Prophecies will fail, but love will never fail.  Do not admire someone for their gifts. Admire them for the love that flows through their lives to others.
