FALSE GIFTS

Proverbs 25:14 says, “Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.” This speaks of false prophets and preachers who twist a biblical word into appeasing words contrary to what the Word actually says. They are often called the “people pleasers.” They falsely claim to bring the word of God. By giving “feel good” words they are often rewarded with many offerings. Some have even amassed considerable wealth. Sadly, they do not preach a balanced biblical word and may likely be leading people toward the gates of hell.

It is not our place to condemn them, but it is our place to caution and warn people about them. One must learn to examine a message given in light of the entire word of God. This requires both reading and studying the Bible, something that few people [even Christians] actually do.

If you know your Bible, then you are less likely to be deceived by false teachings, but how will you know if what you hear is false if you do not read it? Psalm 119:11 says, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

The Holy Spirit will write God’s word upon our heart, but the word is written on our hearts as we read it. If we never read the word, how can it be written upon our hearts?

You can easily be deceived by a false prophet or preacher if you do not know the word. You must read your bible. Read it, study it, and pray. Then read it again, study it, and pray. Let the Holy Spirit write the word upon your heart. Then meditate upon it.

HOW TO BE PRESERVED BLAMELESS

There is a promise for believers in 1 Thessalonians 5:23. It says, “And thee very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

This is an awesome promise, but it is conditional. As we go back to verses 12-22, we see the conditions. Here are the conditions:

·         Verses 12-13 tells us that we are “to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you and to esteem [treat] them very highly [respectfully] in love for their work’s sake.”13 continues with, “…Be at peace among yourselves.”

·         Verses 14 says, “…warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.”

·         Verse 15 says, “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.”

·         Verse16 says to “rejoice evermore.” 17 says “pray without ceasing.”

·        Verse 18 says, “In everything [not for everything] give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

·         Verse 19 says, “Quench not the Spirit.” 20 says, “Despise not prophesyings.”

·        Verse 21 says, “Prove [test] all things” and “hold fast that which is good.”

·        Verse 22 says, “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”

These are the conditions to receive your spirit, soul, and body to be preserved blameless. Most of us need to work on a lot of these conditions. They can only happen when we surrender our lives totally to God. It is a lifestyle, ongoing way of living. It is a process from the day we are born again until the day we die. Set these things as your goal. Be determined, with the help of the Lord, to win the battle of the flesh and give thanks to God for helping you to overcome.
