REVERENCE
Isaiah 59:19
From the West, people will fear the name of the Lord, and from the rising of the sun, they will revere his glory. NIV Merriam Webster’s definition- To offer honor or respect to someone as a divine power. To adore, admire, exalt or magnify. From the book An Altar in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor says that reverence stands in awe of something that dwarfs the self. Reverence may take all kinds of forms depending on what it is that awakens awe in you.

We know from Genesis 1:1; In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 2:1; Thus, the heavens and the earth were completed in their vast array. NIV
Today, my husband and I are in awe of the beautiful reflection of pink on the Sandia
Mountains. Seeing a church cross lit up from our front porch. Looking west in the night sky to see Venus shining so brightly above the crescent moon. A mother hawk cautiously guarding her nest in the trees above our heads. New Spring flowers blooming in our backyard are all things that we revere while in this uncertain time of quarantine. It has forced us to slow down and really “smell the roses.” It has allowed us to look for the good and to know that God loves us and will continue to be with us. As Christians we experience difficult times but knowing there is hope provides calm and helps us to keep Christ in our hearts through reverence.

Our heavenly father, we revere you and all things created by you. Help us to go through this time remembering the things that awaken us and know that you are always there for us.
Amen.

He has opened up the video presentation online for no cost. I will be facilitating a Zoom discussion of this material and incorporating material from his book and study guide. If you would like to join me each week for the next 7 weeks starting Tuesday May 7th from 10 - 11 then email me for details (ktidler@comcast.net). If you would just like to watch the online video go to Online Bible Study to sign up for the free videos.
MUSIC FROM ST. JOHN'S
As part of our outreach during this unsettling time, the Music Ministry has launched “Music From St. John’s,” a series of video performances by local musicians. This is an effort to continue to provide beautiful music to our congregation and community, and also to provide work to local musicians who have been severely affected by cancelations. New videos will appear daily for the foreseeable future, and they are being created by Shea Perry. We hope you’ll enjoy and share the videos, and also consider making a donation to the New Mexico Musicians Relief Fund. The easiest way to view the videos is to go to the St. John’s Music Ministries Facebook page. Check back daily!
