VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS AT HOLY FAMILY:

VIRTUS TRAINING AND BACKGROUND CHECK PROCEDURES

Every adult who volunteers at Holy Family is required to have a current background check on file, complete a VIRTUS training course, and sign a volunteer agreement each year.

The Diocese of Green Bay mandates volunteer requirements, and there are no exceptions.

We strongly encourage all parents to go through this process because opportunities to volunteer will come up quickly, and your name must be on our approved list prior to registering for the event.

  1. BACKGROUND CHECK Volunteers are required to provide personal references, sign a declaration form, and authorize a criminal background check (and receive a satisfactory report) Click here to complete the background check.  Enter code: gbdioc04
  2.  All volunteers who have contact with children are required to complete VIRTUS Protecting God's Children training. Register here. The Green Bay Diocese is currently not offering in-person training, so all training is online.
  3.  AGREEMENT FORM All volunteers must sign and return the Diocesan Code of Pastoral Conduct to the school office annually. Several parents signed this document during Back to School Night, but

A MESSAGE FOM

PRINCIPAL KUBUSKE

September is Suicide Prevention Month and this cause is very important to me both personally and professionally. Believe it or not, suicide is the second leading cause of death among 10 to 19-year-olds in Wisconsin. Although it can be a difficult topic to think about discussing with your child, we feel it's important that we provide you with resources for when you feel the time for conversation is right. This topic is not appropriate for all of the ages we serve here at Holy Family, and we recognize that you know your child best. We encourage you to use the resources we provide at your discretion.

Some may be concerned that talking about suicide will put the idea into a person's head, but studies have shown that talking and being open about this topic can be one of the best methods of prevention.  Ms. Cain, Holy Family's Counselor, will be sharing information on suicide prevention with students beginning in fourth grade, and she will offer discussion points for parents in September newsletters.

This document from the National PTA is a great place to start. If you are in need of more resources please feel free to reach out to Ms. Cain directly. Thank you for your support.
