Wishing You a Blessed Thanksgiving!
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your blessings;
See what God hath done.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings;
See what God hath done.

Excerpt from the hymn Count Your Blessings, lyrics by Johnson Oatman, Jr., 1897
WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND
ADVENT BEGINS
When something hits close to home, it affects us deeply. The stories and scriptures of Advent are tender, heavy with emotion, and vulnerable. Close to Home acknowledges that Emmanuel is with us, and yet, God's promised day—our everlasting home—is not fully realized. We long for God to come close. This Advent, may we be comforted by the One who dwells intimately with us. May we expand safety and sanctuary for everyone wandering far from home. May we come home—wherever home is found—to live fully with joy, hope, and courage.

Pastor Trudy's Weekend Message
We've been seeing signs for a while that the holidays are approaching. Christmas music playing in the stores. Lights are starting to appear on homes and businesses. The stable at church is ready for the Live Nativity. Our calendars are full. The Gospel this week encourages us to look for a different kind of sign, the signs that tell us the kingdom of God is near. Once again we are invited to stay alert for what matters most.

Gracious God, You invite us to slow down, to ponder Your always coming and always present kingdom. Fill our Advent season with Your light and peace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

FROM THE COUNCIL
NOVEMBER UPDATE
Council started to appoint members to the GLC Benevolence Team which will kick off work in 2022. We voted at our last congregational meeting to give 2% of our total income to local organizations. When we make our goals, this will equal about $20,000. The Benevolence team will work on building relationships in our community for the greatest impact. (We also give 8% of total income to the wider church to multiply our impact around the world.)

We set a big congregational goal for this coming year- to build more small groups to keep us living a generous life in Christ!
Our budget is an incredible tapestry that comes together as we proclaim Christ's generosity in our community. Our Finance Team and Council are committed to keeping you informed so that you can respond! After a great start in September, a lower October has put us behind our goals. Remember: 10% of all our income goes beyond our doors! There are many ways to give; drop cash in the offering plate at the back of the Sanctuary, online, check, Required Minimum Distributions (RMD's) and stocks. Contact Lisa or call (331) 248-6699 if you need more information. Thank you for your continued support!
