Clarification from DOE
Members of our caucus have received a number of calls and emails from constituents regarding a proposed Delaware Department of Education (DOE) regulation update to their face covering policies. We contacted DOE seeking clarification and below is their response.

"The Department of Education is aware that an altered and fraudulent version of Regulation 815 with “masks will be permanent” language is being shared on social media. That statement is not in the emergency regulation or in any proposed regulation.

Regulation 815 Health Examinations and Screening existed before COVID-19. Section 6.0 was added to Emergency Regulation 815, effective August 16, 2021 focusing solely on COVID-19 Mitigation and Prevention and mask wearing. Emergency regulation 815 is in effect for 120 days with a one-time possible extension of 60 days.

At the same time, proposed Regulation 815 was also being updated via the regular regulation process. The department is accepting public comments on both regulation (the emergency and proposed versions) via [email protected]"
Senate Redistricting Hearings
Every 10 years, states must redraw their legislative districts based on the most recent federal Census data.

This process, known as redistricting, requires the General Assembly to follow a very specific, very technical set of guidelines. There are numerous criteria each district must meet, including containing a relatively similar population size and meeting guidelines concerning contiguity, compactness, communities of interest and observing natural or political boundaries, all while maintaining majority-minority districts.

On Monday, November 1, the General Assembly will convene to consider the redrawn maps. If you wish to attend and view the Senate's session in person, please register here.
