RUN AFTER GOD
My husband and I do a lot of ministry through social media. We belong to several prophetic forums and do LIVE broadcasts over YouTube and Facebook. We are seeing lives change through the preaching of the word. One thing that I am noticing throughout the past few months that we have been in “lockdown” since the virus hit is that many are running after “prophetic words” like I have never seen. There are so many “words” being given that actually are opposing thoughts, that one would not know which to believe.
People are depending on prophetic words to guide them. It is as if they have no hope without getting “a word” for the day. I see this as adulterating the true office of a prophet. I move in the prophetic gifts, but I cannot give a word to someone at the drop of a hat. That would be me, and not God. This has been going on for a long time. There are even schools that teach you how “to prophesy”. Unless you have been anointed of God to the office of a prophet it is all flesh. People run to hear what prophets have to say, and many of the “words” given are not of God.
Several years ago a friend had a son who had been given a prophetic word. The word was he would marry a blonde-haired blue-eyed girl. He met a dark-eyed brown-haired girl and married her instead. His mother insisted that the marriage wasn’t of God because of the “prophecy” that he had received. She would not allow herself to even be part of his wife’s life because of this. She even insisted that he missed God and should divorce his wife. Now that certainly wasn’t from God, was it? No, it wasn’t. I told her that, but she was sadly convinced that I was wrong.
Instead of running after prophetic words, we should be running after God. What do I mean? I mean that we should be reading his word with such a hunger, that it is the only food that will sustain us in life. It should be our daily bread. When we hunger after God, then our lives will be complete. There is such a lack of this hunger throughout the entire body of Christ. There are so few that truly hunger for God. There is no lack of Bibles in the world-- there is a lack of reading and studying them.
The scripture tells us in II Thessalonians 2:3
“Let no man deceive you by any means….”
Deception is at an all time high.
The only way to not be deceived is to know the truth.
The Word of God is truth my friends. The more of the Word you have in you the less likely you are to be deceived. We are commanded to study in II Timothy 2:15
“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
When we run after God through His word we cannot be deceived. If you want a word from me, here it is: Read Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21. You will find what you are looking for there.
