Principal's Message
Open House is this Sunday, January 27 ! We encourage all current and prospective families to attend this showcase event! Please encourage any family member, friend, co-worker, etc. who may be interested in Guardian Angels School to also attend. The Open House will kick off Catholic Schools Week, which is our devoted time to celebrate our wonderful school and faith through many exciting events! Concluding Catholic Schools Week is our annual Penny Fair! We are still in need of volunteers for this event. Details for volunteering can be found below.

Open House will also serve as our start date for accepting new registrations to Guardian Angels School for preschool through 8 th grade. We anticipate an exceptionally strong response for all programs, especially in preschool. Anticipating this, we opened re-enrollment and registration of new students with siblings currently enrolled at GA last Friday! Thank you to all the families who have already taken advantage of this opportunity. In order for registration to be complete, all families must go through a two-step re-enrollment process.
  • First, you will complete an electronic form through Administrator’s Plus Online Forms that can be accessed from the email you received last Friday. This step must be completed for each child you are enrolling.
  • Second, you must also complete a payment which includes registration and technology fees. The payment for these combined fees will be collected through the WeShare payment site.
The email you received last Friday from Bob Buck included instructions and links to the Administrator’s Plus Online Forms and the WeShare payment site. Both re-enrollment steps must be completed for full registration into next school year.

The preschool process is separate from the KDG-8 th grade process. If you are re-enrolling in preschool and KDG-8, you will need to fill out online re-enrollment forms for all of your returning students using Administrator’s Plus Online Forms and then make two payments at the WeShare payment site: one for your re-enrolling student(s) in preschool and one for your re-enrolling student(s) in KDG-8 th grade. Also, if you are a current family registering a new student in any grade level, a new student registration packet can be found through the school website or in the school office. I strongly encourage all families to have new registrations complete before we open registration to new families on January 27.

Finally, I am excited to publish our 2019-2020 school year calendar. You may view the calendar here .

God Bless,

All are welcome to join the faculty and staff for the noon Mass on January 27th followed by an Art Show presented by grades kindergarten through fifth grade, our GA Expo and a guided tour by one of our junior high students.

Please stop by the Religious Education table at the GA Open House. We will have information and registration forms for Bible Camp, Camp Gaudeo, our youth ministry program, and the Vocation Ministry. Catholic Schools Week is January 27 - February 1
The theme of Catholic Schools Week 2019 is HALO - Honest, Accountable and a Leader to Others. As a thriving Catholic school, we strive to provide the best educational instruction and religious formation for your family. Catholic Schools Week is a wonderful time to thank God for the many blessings He gives us as well as show our gratitude to you for choosing Guardian Angels and trusting us to enrich your children’s lives! We also thank you for supporting our school through your donations and prayers. Please see the attached schedule for the events planned for this special week.

Specific information regarding our Art Show, Grandparents Day, and Penny Fair can be found below.
Art Show This Weekend
All students in kindergarten through 5th grade will have art work exhibited this weekend! Join us in the Undercroft after our 5:00pm Saturday Mass and all Sunday Masses, during our Open House from 1:00-3:00pm on Sunday and on Monday until noon. Each student will have two works of art on display.

Your child’s beautiful framed and matted artwork can be purchased for only $25! If grandparents or friends would also like to buy it, a beautiful reproduction can also be ordered. All proceeds will allow us to buy exciting new supplies for all students to use in art classes! Any matted and framed work that is purchased will be sent home on Monday, while other work will be returned later.

We also hope you enjoy the “stained glass” designs by our 8th graders. These can be viewed in the Gathering Space this weekend and next week for Catholic Schools Week.

Finally, be sure to take time to look at our school bulletin boards this weekend at Open House or in the upcoming weeks. You’ll love our Gallery of Gratitude that our 6th grade students created! Each student made a clay portrait of a school teacher or staff member. They are amazing and so fun to view!

A separate art show for grades 6, 7, 8 will be held the day of our Spring Concert on May 15th.

We have wonderful artists at GA! We look forward to sharing their imagination and talent with you this weekend.

Parish News
Thank You!
The thank you notes have come in from the mission sites who received the clothing school families donated in December. Here are just a few:
  • From the Interfaith shop in Elkton, KY: "Thanks for all you do for us. I'm so glad for the toddler clothes you sent. There were many mothers who came in for toddler clothes and I didn't have any till your boxes came. Thank you."
  • From Caruthersville, MO: "...Your timing in sending the boxes just before Christmas is perfect. Moms came in to the Mother's House and were delighted to find the footed pajamas for their little ones. It gets cold here and not all families have good heat. God bless you."
  • From St. Bernard Mission in North Dakota: "Thank you for the 24 boxes of candy sent for our children for this Holy Season. The candy is a treat for our children and shut-ins who might otherwise not have any. God bless you."
Did Santa miss the mark on your perfect gift this year? Avoid the hassle of long return lines and donate your unwanted gifts to the AngelsFest Bid-n-Buy. Don’t forget to hit the end-of-season sales, too! You can send your donations to the rectory, school office, or the Religious Education office. Tax donation forms will be available at any location.

Some Basket Bonanza ideas we are working on include:
  • The WEIGHT is Over (gym/exercise)
  • There’s No Day Like a SNOW DAY (indoor fun)
  • Music to My Ears (CDs, music accessories, concert tickets)
  • Take it to the Hoop (basketball)
We will also happily accept any ready-made baskets and gift cards. Thank you for your support! If you would like to join the planning committee or have any questions, email Kay Froehlich or call her at 513-624-3146.
