Principal's Message
This evening, we will host a parent meeting on human sexuality as a preview to student presentation for students in grades 5 & 6 and 7 & 8 scheduled the following week. Please use this link to register for the event if you have not done so already. Level one, intended for parents in grades 5 & 6, will occur in the library and be facilitated by Corey Stoops. Level two, intended for parents of students in grades 7 & 8, will occur in the Science Lab and be facilitated by Katie Durstock. During these sessions, we will show parents part of the video that students will watch the following week.

Mr. Diehl Recognized as Warm 98 Teacher of the Week

Wear Green on March 14th

Celebrate the Luck o' the Irish on Thursday, March 14 by wearing green shirts and/or socks to school for $1. All money collected will be donated to various mission organizations in our community.
Spring Musical is March 21 & 22

Guardian Angels is proud to present the musical Getting to know The King and I , on March 21-22 , at 7:00 PM, in the Sr. Delores Parish Center. Please join the GA community to enjoy the show and support our young talent!

Ad space in the program is now for sale! You can advertise your business or send a sweet message to a cast or crew member. Pricing is as follows:
  • Half Page Ad: $25
  • Quarter Page Ad: $15
  • 50 Character Message: $10

Tickets for each performance will be sold at the door. Tickets cost $10 per adult, $6 for a student, and children five and under are free.
Collection for St Joseph's Table
Dear Families of GA;
During the Middle Ages in Sicily, there was an exceptionally severe drought. No rain fell for an extended period of time, no crops would grow, and countless people died in the ensuing famine. The peasants prayed to God for rain, and they also prayed to St. Joseph to intercede with God on their behalf. They promised that if God caused it to rain, they would have a special feast honoring God and St. Joseph and share the bounty with the poor.

Miraculously, the rains came and the crops were planted. With the harvest, the people prepared a feast of foods from their crops. All were invited to share in the bounty. This has become known as the Tavola di San Giuseppe (St. Joseph’s Table). Through the centuries, and around the world, people have used this festive table to express their thanks for favors granted through the intercession of St. Joseph.

In honor of St. Joseph, whose feast day is March 19 th , we asked the St. Vincent de Paul Society what they needed to help our neighbors today. The items most needed are listed below by grade level. (None of these necessary items may be purchased with Food Assistance Cards.) We invite you to offer a family prayer to St. Joseph, and as a sign of gratitude for our blessings, provide an item(s) for those who count on our generosity. You may bring your offering to school and place it on our St. Joseph’s Table, located in the copier hallway by the Religious Ed. office from Monday, March 18th through Friday, March 22nd.

Boy Scout Mulch Sale
The Annual Boy Scout Troop 445 Mulch Sale has begun. This is our 6th year for selling mulch. The scouts earn money for troop campouts and summer camp. This is our only fund raiser of the year. Our delivery dates for this year are April 26 and 27 . The order form is attached , or you can come see us at Guardian Angels Fish Fry. Orders must be postmarked BEFORE April 15th . Halo Hustle is May 17th
Mark your calendars for the GA 5k - The Halo Hustle! Our 12th annual 5k event will take place May 17th at 6:30pm and includes a run/walk, kids fun course, and a post-race party!
 
Join us for a scenic 5K Run/Walk through the neighborhoods of Mt. Washington with music and fans cheering you on along the way. Stay for the after-party and awards ceremony to enjoy live music by the Marshal Street Project , food trucks, beverages, and kids entertainment! Race registration includes a bib tag and a "swag bag" filled with goodies and one free drink ticket. All proceeds benefit Guardian Angels School.
 
New for 2019:
  • Refer a Friend! If you refer at least 3 friends, you will receive $10 back on your registration!
  • Start or join a team! Do you have a student at GA? Join his/her homeroom team so the class can win a pizza party! 
  • Post-Race Party Only! Not into 5Ks? No problem! You can still support the school and join the party, Don't miss out on the live music, great food, and mingling with your friends.

PTA Spring Used Uniform Event
It’s time to clear out those outgrown uniforms and donate them to the PTA Spring Uniform Event! If you have uniforms to donate, just drop them into the collection bin outside the school office anytime from March 13-21.. Clothing should be in good used condition.

Need some extra uniform items? Stop by Room A in the undercroft on Friday, March 22nd from 2:30-3:30pm AND 5:30-7:30pm and grab what you need! FOR FREE!
After School Enrichment Opportunities

These projects are unbelievable! We're each creating a book of animal handprints, a paper mache ice cream cone, and a clay taco. Depending on grade & desire of participants, each project will have different choices & level of difficulty.

End the school year by making your own painted paper kite collage, some clay bugs, and a unique tissue paper flower bowl. Depending on grade & desire of participants, each project will have different choices & level of difficulty.

Life Skillz 101 Grades: 3-6
Mondays April 8 & 15 from 2:45 - 4:45pm
Through interactive role play and fun hands-on activities, students will learn the meaning of manners and respectful behavior. Topics include table manners at home, at a nice restaurant, and at a family gathering. We will also explore manners in public places. We will help them understand personal space, and how to respect people who have disabilities. Other topics will also include manners when hosting or attending a party, playdate or sleepover, and how to write a thank you note! Your kids will come home excited to set the table!

Boosters News
GA Boosters Offers Scholarship to 8th Graders for High School
Beginning this spring, the Guardian Angels Athletic Boosters will award two $1,500 non-renewable scholarships to help pay for tuition at a Catholic High School. The recipients will include one boy and one girl. For consideration applicants must be:
  • Enrolled at Guardian Angels School or in the CCD program at Guardian Angels Parish
  • Have participated in at least one athletic program sponsored by GA Boosters within the last two years
  • Registered at a Catholic high school for the 2019-2020 school year

2019 Football & Cheer Registration Open Through April 30th
Registration is now open for all students interested in playing football or cheerleading for Guardian Angels next year. Registration is available on the Athletics Boosters website through April 30th . When registering, make sure you enter your child's grade level for the 2019-2020 school year.

Fish Fry Fridays
Guardian Angels hosts a fish fry dinner every Friday during Lent in the undercroft from 5:00-7:30. There is no Fish Fry on Good Friday. Everyone is welcome!

There is plenty of food for families to eat-in or carry out. Fried and baked fish, shrimp, cheese pizza, mac-n-cheese, french fries,cole slaw, and baked goods.  Senior dining available for parishioners in Room B. There is also a craft corner for children. Children must be attended by an adult at all times.

PTA is in charge of running the Bake Sale Table  at each Fish Fry. They are looking for people who will make/donate baked goods for the table. They also need volunteers to work the bake sales. You can sign-up to do either here . If you have any questions, contact Margaret Dunn .
Changes to CCD for 2019-2020 School Year
Guardian Angels CCD program will be changing for the 2019-2020 school year. Beginning September 2019, CCD classes will be offered Sunday mornings from 8:30-9:45 throughout the school year.

40 Days for Life
Over the past years Guardian Angels parish has volunteered to cover two of the 40 Days for Life event where we have someone continually praying from 7:00am to 7:00pm at Planned Parenthood’s abortion facility. Many of our working parishioners try to cover our early and late hours and those available during the day fill the hours in between.
 
Please consider joining us as many of our “regulars” can no longer participate mainly for health reasons. Wigs for Kids Community Service Opportunity
Tired of giving up the same old thing for Lent? Want to make a real sacrifice that will make a difference in the life of a child AND earn six hours of community service? Join us Thursday, April 11, from 3:00-6:00pm in the Guardian Angels Cafeteria and donate 12 inches of hair to Wigs for Kids . Not enough hair to donate? Stop by, learn about Wigs for Kids.. Guardian Angels Follies: Hooray for Folliewood
GA Follies presents  Hooray for Folliewood   April 26, 27, 28, May 3, and 4  . This will be the group's 56th production! More information about the upcoming show and tickets sales will be available soon.

Guardian Angels Follies is a Parish Service Organization that has been dedicated to raising funds for the Guardian Angels Church and School for 56 years. Funds raised have helped bring to life projects such as the Science Lab, Parish Center, student scholarship fund, steeple lighting and many more. If you would like to read more about becoming a patron/donor for the event, click here . AngelsFest is June 7, 8, 9
Our annual parish festival will be held June 7, 8, and 9 . AngelsFest is the parish's largest fundraising event of the year! You will find plenty of great food and drinks, rides, and games for adults and children of all ages. We will also have live entertainment all weekend long!
Festival Schedule:

We will also have a golf ball drop from the football field on Sunday.

Family Mission Trip - June 13-16
Guardian Angels Parish is gearing up for its 5th annual Family Mission Trip to Frenchburg, KY on June 13-16 . This family-friendly mission trip will include service projects for all ages and skill levels. Projects may include construction, landscaping, painting, crafting, food preparation, and visiting the sick or elderly. See the Family Mission Trip Flyer for more information.

Roar Into Vacation Bible School
Life is wild for kids – full of ups and downs and twists and turns. At ROAR VBS, kids will deepen their friendship with a mighty, loving and good God who empowers them to boldly face life’s challenges.
 
Bible Camp runs from Monday, June 17th through Thursday, June 20th , 9:00am until 12:00pm each day.
 
Children ages 5-8, (incoming kindergarten through incoming 3rd grade) are welcome to attend.
 
The cost for GA Bible Camp is $45 per camper. Included in this fee is a GA bible camp t-shirt, snacks and crafts! We will have music, story time and games all week long.
 
The Registration Form and Archdiocese Release Form may be found on the Religious Education page of the parish website . A separate registration form and release form must be completed for each child.
Camp GAudeo
Registration is now open for Camp GAudeo, a summer ministry for students currently in grades 5-8. Camp will be held June 24-28 at Guardian Angels, and includes a ton of fun activities for the youth of our parish. This year’s camp will include roller skating, field day activities, Coney Island, service projects, and a trip to Run Jump-N-Play. The Camp GAudeo page on the parish website hosts registration, additional event information, and applications for potential high school and adult volunteers. Bulletin Advertisement Opportunities Available
Sherry Montell representing Diocesan Publications (our bulletin publisher) has been at the parish office working on the advertising sales for our weekly bulletin the past couple weeks. Thanks to our sponsors and Diocesan Publications, the bulletin is published weekly at no cost to the parish. Please consider purchasing an ad. Your ad and participation make the bulletin successful, and you attract customers for your business!

Advertisements/sponsorships can be purchased for a business, family, charity, in Honor or in Memory of a Loved One, or to support the church or a community service organization, such as Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts of America. We appreciate your support.
Upcoming School Masses
Students will participate in an All School Mass on March 19th at 8:15am to celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph.

For a calendar of upcoming Mass times, log into your parent portal in  Rediker . Click on the Calendar, the box with the arrow, found on the right side of your home page. School Masses are shown in the light blue color. Or you can make a selection in the filter drop down, to the right above the calendar dates, to just show School Masses.
 
Parents and other family members are invited to attend any Mass your child will be attending. You are also welcome to bring any younger siblings with you.  
Reminders
Box Tops Collections
The Guardian Angels PTA is collecting Box Tops from various consumer products. GA students can submit Box Tops to their homeroom teachers and all parishioners can drop off Box Tops in the special collection envelope located on the bulletin board in the Church Gathering Space. The Box Tops are picked up at the following dates:  March 22 and May 19.
We use the funds earned to purchase indoor recess games and outdoor recess equipment. Please start collecting Box Tops today and help us make this year even more successful! 
Cookie Ministry
Guardian Angels School Cookie Ministry teams up with the Parish Parish Peanut Butter group to feed families in need. The Peanut Butter group makes 1,500 peanut butter and bologna sandwiches. GA students donate cookies. St. Francis Seraph Church in Over-the-Rhine gives the food to families in need. Students are asked to bring in two dozen cookies, brownies, or rice krispie bars on their classroom's designated day. They do need to be bagged, two treats per bag. All 2nd grade classes are responsible for the next donation on Monday, March 18th. A   complete schedule for the school year is attached.   .
School Calendar
Looking for more information about upcoming events at GA? You can find a calendar in your Rediker Parent Portal. Log into your account, then click on the Calendar on the blue navigation bar. The calendar shows school events, parish events, and much more. Just a reminder, events posted on the school website, www.gaschool.org , only include those open to the public or new families who may not have activated a Rediker account yet. All other event information is posted in Rediker, which is password protected.

Kroger Community Rewards
Have you signed up for Kroger Community Rewards and designated GA as your beneficiary? The more families who register, the more money our school receives through the program. Kroger Community Rewards offers a great way for you to support our school's technology fund...and you don't have to spend a penny. Register your rewards card  online  and select Guardian Angels as your beneficiary. You can search for GA or use our NPO number, 80200. The amount Guardian Angels receives depends on the points our supporters rack up while grocery shopping. Enrolling does NOT impact the points you use to redeem for discounts at the pump.c

Laffalot Summer Camp
Registration is now open for Laffalot Summer Camps. The camps offers children 6-12 years old a week of fun activities that help them develop teamwork, learn sportsmanship, improve interpersonal skills, and build whole body coordination. The Laffalot Summer Camp held at MicNicholas HS is held June 17-21. There is also one at Sherwood Elementary July 15-19. Visit the website  for more information.
