Principal's Message
As we approach the cold and snowy season, I would like to remind families of our plan for any changes in operation. There is no way to predict any of the possible circumstances for any forecasted storm, but it is important to stress a few items to be prepared for this unpredictability. Please keep the following items in mind as we approach the wet and cold weather:
  1. Guardian Angels School will notify parents of any operational changes through our all-call system. A test of this system was administered in August. This is the most immediate and reliable way to be notified of any changes.
  2. Local media will also be informed of any changes under the name “Guardian Angels School;” however, the most reliable notification is our all-call system.
  3. Generally, we follow the Forest Hills School District; however, there are unique circumstances for that district and our school that could dictate different plans. Again, the best way to stay informed of any changes is through our all-call system.
  4. If there are special circumstances that are lengthy in communication, we will use our all-school email to notify parents of specific instructions and procedures.
  5. If we are operating on a two hour delay, school will officially begin at 10:00, with carline starting at 9:30. Please do not bring your child to school before 9:30, as a two hour delay could change to a school closing.
  6. Perhaps the most difficult situation is when the inclement weather does not begin until school has already started. We strongly consider the forecast ahead of time, hopefully avoiding the possibility of having to make this change throughout the school day. Our unique position of relying on five different school districts for busing adds to this difficult decision. If we are in school and a public district has made the decision to close early, all students of that district will be sent home when the buses arrive to Guardian Angels, unless we are notified differently from you. We will communicate all changes to you through our all-call system and/or email.

God Bless,
Corey

News From the Art Room
Original Works Gifts Are Back!
Our GA artists have been working hard to create a work of art just for you! This week students were sent home with a bright yellow packet. Inside you'll find information, an order form, and YOUR child's original work of art. These make unique Christmas and birthday gifts for family and friends and you don't need to leave your home to shop!

The kindergarten classes painted flowers in a mosaic vase, 1st graders painted towns, 2nd graders painted giraffes, 3rd graders painted textured hearts, 4th graders painted a bouquet of flowers-, 5th graders painted modern hearts, 6th graders painted landscapes, 7th graders painted a zentangle watercolor design, and 8th graders painted mountain landscapes. So impressive!

Thank you for ordering and returning the yellow envelope with your student's art work inside, by Monday November 12th . This allows me to buy awesome and new supplies for students, laminating film and rolls of paper for teachers' bulletin boards, and lots of clay, which we all love!

Any questions, contact Mrs. Pavely .

Wrestling Team News
GA is one of the few K-6th grade schools in Cincinnati with its own wrestling team. The wrestling team practices twice a week at GA during the winter sports season and the weekend competitions are optional. Wrestling will build confidence, core strength, and teach discipline in your child. Wrestling will also help your son develop and improve his football skills in tackling, blocking, and overall athleticism.

The great thing about wrestling is that no matter how big or small your child is he will be matched up with an opponent his size. Competition is determined by weight class and age. Wrestling is also a great option in high school for those kids who have that football mentality but may not feel they’re big enough to compete.

Lastly, we have had many kids over the years that have been able to wrestle and play other sports during the winter season. If your child would like to give wrestling a try, and also wants to play other sports, we will work around his schedule. We strongly believe in the benefits of wrestling and our goal is simply to introduce the sport to any GA child who may have an interest.

You can sign up for wrestling through the Boosters' website . Wrestling practice days and times will be posted on that website once they are determined. You will need to create a login to sign-up. In the past, practices were held every Tuesday and Friday, from 6:00-8:00pm.

Reminders
Box Tops Collections
The Guardian Angels PTA is collecting Box Tops from various consumer products. GA students can submit Box Tops to their homeroom teachers and all parishioners can drop off Box Tops in the special collection envelope located on the bulletin board in the Church Gathering Space. The Box Tops are picked up at the following dates:  November 30, January 25, February 25, March 22, and May 19.
We use the funds earned to purchase indoor recess games and outdoor recess equipment. Please start collecting Box Tops today and help us make this year even more successful!
Cookie Ministry
Guardian Angels School Cookie Ministry teams up with the Parish Parish Peanut Butter group to feed families in need. The Peanut Butter group makes 1,500 peanut butter and bologna sandwiches. GA students donate cookies. St. Francis Seraph Church in Over-the-Rhine gives the food to families in need. Students are asked to bring in two dozen cookies, brownies, or rice krispie bars on their classroom's designated day. They do need to be bagged, two treats per bag. All 8th grade classes are responsible for the next donation on Monday, November 12th . A   complete schedule for the school year is attached.
School Calendar
Looking for more information about upcoming events at GA? You can find a calendar in your Rediker Parent Portal. Log into your account, then click on the Calendar on the blue navigation bar. The calendar shows school events, parish events, and much more. Just a reminder, events posted on the school website, www.gaschool.org , only include those open to the public or new families who may not have activated a Rediker account yet. All other event information is posted in Rediker, which is password protected.
Amazon Shopping to Support GA
You can now support Guardian Angels Parish when you shop at Amazon.com! GA is a newly registered participant in the AmazonSmile Program. You can  sign-up  to have a portion of your purchase sales come back to Guardian Angels. When you make purchases through the AmazonSmile page, and have GA selected as your beneficiary, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products back to GA.  You have to be shopping from smile.amazon.com page of the site for us to receive the benefit.
Kroger Community Rewards
Have you signed up for Kroger Community Rewards and designated GA as your beneficiary? The more families who register, the more money our school receives through the program. Kroger Community Rewards offers a great way for you to support our school's technology fund...and you don't have to spend a penny. Register your rewards card  online  and select Guardian Angels as your beneficiary. You can search for GA or use our NPO number, 80200. The amount Guardian Angels receives depends on the points our supporters rack up while grocery shopping. Enrolling does NOT impact the points you use to redeem for discounts at the pump.c
