Principal's Message

Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed a Christ-filled holiday season and is experiencing an exciting New Year. I look forward to watching our angels continue to earn their HALOs as we progress through the second half of the school year.

Today, we begin our iReady winter benchmark testing window. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions based on student responses. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning. Similar to the fall administration, students will be tested in both Math and English/Language Arts. Your child’s teacher will inform you of the specific days he/she will be testing. All testing will conclude by January 26, 2024.

To help prepare your child for the i-Ready Diagnostic, encourage them to:

  • Get a good night’s sleep and eat a full breakfast the day of the assessment.
  • Try their best on each question and try not to rush.
  • Try not to worry about questions to which they do not know the answers—remind them that it is expected that they will only get about half of the questions correct.
  • Be respectful of other students who take longer to finish.
  • Use paper and pencil to show work for math questions.

Finally, please see below for important updates concerning several staff members.

God Bless,

Corey

Staffing Update

  • After 44 years of teaching, Donna Sarky has decided to retire at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year! She has blessed our GA community as an active and dedicated teacher for the past 31 years. She will be greatly missed by all, as she has positively impacted every person she met. We have all been so blessed with her positive attitude, team-centered approach, professionalism, joyous demeanor, and so much more. She has helped make our community a true family. Please join me in congratulating her and wishing her well in retirement.
  • Elizabeth Pyles will need a follow-up surgery and has scheduled the procedure for 1/31/24. She anticipates being out of the health office for around 4 weeks. We are currently building a coverage schedule for the health office during her absence. Please join me in praying for a successful surgery and quick recovery.
  • Jeremy Kramer’s last day at GA was while we were away on Christmas break. He was such a great asset to our school and a great team member of the best maintenance crew out there! Our cleaning company will be providing a replacement for Jeremy.
