Principal's Message

Yesterday, our school community celebrated two very meaningful events. In the morning, our fifth-grade students beautifully presented the Living Rosary to recognize October as the Month of the Rosary. It was a reverent and moving experience that reminded us of the power of prayer and the importance of devotion to Mary.

Then, later that evening, our 8th-grade students received the Sacrament of Confirmation, with Archbishop Casey presiding. This special ceremony united them more firmly with Christ, deepened the gifts of the Holy Spirit in their lives, and strengthened their bond with the Church. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all parents, teachers, and catechists who helped prepare our students for this final Sacrament of Initiation. Please continue to keep our 8th graders in your prayers as they grow in faith and continue their spiritual journeys.

Finally, parent/teacher conferences begin next week with our PS/PK & Grades 6-8 being held on Wednesday and Thursday. Grades KDG-5 will be held on November 12 & 13. Sign-up information is listed below. I look forward to seeing you here!

God Bless,

Corey Stoops

Recognizing Our Amazing Teachers!

Everyone knows that Guardian Angels boasts some of the most amazing teachers and staff members! Each week, we want to recognize two of them and shower them with love and appreciation. This week we celebrate 6th Grade Teacher, Ms. Kathy Myres, and our Administrative Assistant, Mrs. cindy Sizemore.

Kathy is a beloved teacher whom students eagerly anticipate having for class. Her fun and understanding nature create a welcoming atmosphere, perfectly suited for her 6th-grade learners. Her classroom radiates joy and fosters a love for learning, making it a truly special place for all. She always puts the best interest of the school and her students first. Thank you, Kathy!

Cindy embodies everything you could hope for in an administrative assistant. Her warmth and kindness create a welcoming atmosphere, making her beloved by everyone. As the first face you see at GA, she truly represents the best of our team. We wholeheartedly believe that our operations wouldn't be as smooth and successful without her invaluable contributions. Thank you, Cindy!

Please join us in recognizing and celebrating these two outstanding GA staff members. You can leave a kind note here. Notes, cards, emails, flowers, gift cards, etc. are always appreciated!

Visitor Management System- Raptor

This week, we launched our new visitor management system! While we are still getting used to it, the system adds an important layer of safety for our school community. If you plan to volunteer, please review our updated visitor guidelines in advance—and don’t forget to bring your state-issued photo ID.

Additionally, we are implementing a new policy that discontinues parents bringing fast food to school for their children (or others). This change helps reduce classroom/office disruptions due to item drop-offs, discourages food sharing, and supports healthier eating habits for all students.

All new items will be added as new policies to our handbook.

iReady Results

Today students will bring home their iReady Family letter. This contains information for parents to log in and review their child's iReady score and learning areas. Please follow the instructions listed on the page and if you have any questions reach out to Mrs. Katie Jacobs at kjacobs@gaschool.org.

Parents may see specific areas of learning when logging in. Part of the iReady program is an individualized component called MyPath. This is a supplemental program that is individualized based on your student’s iReady score. It will send your student activities and lessons to reteach, introduce, or enhance learning based on where they scored. Students may log in to this program at home on personal or if their grade level brings home school devices.

Preschool Open House

Preschool Open House will be held Wednesday, November 5th from 5-7 pm. This event is specifically for anyone considering enrolling their child(ren) in the preschool and/or pre-k program for the 2026-2027 school year. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP through the link below.

Upcoming Admissions Events

This year, we are hosting two Informational Coffee Sessions in place of a traditional Open House. These small group sessions create the opportunity for those interested in Guardian Angels to meet Corey, have their questions answered on a personal level, and see the school in action! These are for anyone considering enrolling their child(ren) in kindergarten through eighth grade for the 2026-2027 school year. Please RSVP through the appropriate link below and share it with anyone who is interested in learning more about Guardian Angels School.

Great News for Anyone Who Pays Ohio Income Tax and Supports Guardian Angels

We have many students at Guardian Angels who benefit from scholarships provided by the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF). Ohio taxpayers who donate to the CEF may be able to claim a dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return, up to $750 per donor. For more information, click here.

We hope you consider a donation before the end of the year and choose "Guardian Angels School (Cincinnati)(C00160)" from the drop-down when prompted.

Parishioner and tax expert, Brien Dulle, is donating. Here's what he had to say. "Supporting the CEF is a no-brainer for me for two reasons. As a graduate of GA that is also sending my daughters to the school, I want to invest in the education that our children receive. Secondly, there's no extra money out of pocket since I can claim a dollar-for-dollar Ohio tax credit."

Safe Snack List

Please be mindful of our Safe Snack List when bringing in food items for distribution to other students. A comprehensive list of what is allowed to be brought in can be found on our school website here. All items brought in for distribution must be included on this list. No homemade or bakery items are allowed.

HSPT Preparation

To help students prepare for the HSPT, GA is offering test prep sessions after school to any 8th grade GA student that wants to attend. These sessions will be taught by Mrs. Gaul and Mrs. Selzer. There is no cost to attend the sessions due to the generosity of the Halo Hustle 5K organization. The sessions will be 2-hours in length, and will be after school from 3-5pm on the following days (please note the change in dates from previously communicated dates).

Boosters and PTA Dues

Guardian Angels has three major parent-led organizations that provide services to our students: PTA, Athletic Boosters, and Fine Arts Boosters. This $100 fee covers all three programs (PTA facilitates the collection).

The PTA is a critical link between the teachers and the parents. The money that the PTA receives from its portion of the dues, along with fundraising throughout the year, allows the PTA to put on events like the Penny Fair, manage the used uniform exchange, provide teacher appreciation events, and invest in capital improvements at the school.

Last year, the PTA fundraising efforts supported painting the intermediate and junior high hallways, new furniture for the 3rd grade classrooms, and a remodel of the Junior High Collaboration Space. Athletic Boosters plans to use their dues to offset the rising operational costs for uniforms, equipment, league fees, as well as ensuring a top-quality experience for our young athletes. The Fine Arts Boosters uses their funds to support school performing arts as well as fine arts.

The classroom party fee is $15 a child. This money is used by PTA classroom coordinators to plan and put on parties for each homeroom. Grades preschool - 4th grade will have themed parties for Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day. Grades 5th - 8th grade will enjoy pizza parties for Halloween, Christmas, and the end of the year. Click here to pay dues and party fees.

The PTA facilitates the collection of monetary gifts for the teachers at Christmas and the end of the year. This is not mandatory but provides an opportunity for parents and families to celebrate teachers and staff with a monetary gift. Please use this link if you would like to contribute to teacher and staff gifts.

Attendance Line

All families must call the school office at 513-624-3141 for any attendance-related changes. This includes if a student is going to be absent or tardy, a change is needed for how a student will get home, or if a student needs to go home early. Calling will confirm that the school receives the message. Parents can call the school office at the number above at any time. Do not email changes to attendance/pick-up; always call the school office.

Lunch Service

Kaldi's Catering Services provides GA students with lunch offerings each day. Parents need to set up and pre-order lunches through the EZ Schools Apps platform. Limited lunch items are available for students who have active accounts with available funds on the day of service. Please create an account if you don't already have one.

Cafeteria Volunteers Needed

We are always in need of helpful hands to keep an eye on our students in grades K-8 during lunch. Please consider sharing a small part of your day to assist. All volunteers must be SafeParish trained. If you are interested, please sign up!

Sensory-Friendly Mass at St. John Fisher First Sundays of the Month

St. Gregory the Great Family of Parishes and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Office for Persons with Disabilities offers a Sensory-Friendly Mass on the first Sunday of the month at St. John Fisher. All are welcome! A special invitation is extended to any person with autism, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, dementia, or sensory issues. These Masses may include lower lighting, quiet music and/or no music, and shorter more literal homilies; however, the biggest difference is that we try to create an environment free of stigma. We encourage families and individuals to get up and move if needed, to bring alternative seating, fidgets or noise cancelling headphones, and to participate in the liturgy just as they are.

St. Gregory the Great Mental Health Ministry Is Here for You!

We will meet monthly from September through April as a group on the first Wednesday of the month from 7:00pm-8:30pm in the Youth Room on IHM’s campus; and then once more for 20-30 mins each month during the 3rd week (times and locations TBD) in a 1:1 meeting with a teen life coach. Please see the LifePREP brochure or contact Steve Von Hoene, Associate Director of Youth Evangelization stevevh@sggparish.org , for more information.
