Principal's Message

As we approach the cold and snowy season, I would like to remind families of our plan for any changes in school operations due to inclement weather. There is no way to predict any of the possible circumstances for forecasted storms, but it is important to stress a few items to prepare for this unpredictability. Please keep the following items in mind as we approach the wet and cold weather:

Emergency Notification System

  • Guardian Angels School will notify parents of any operational changes through our emergency notification system. This includes both a phone call and a text message. A test of this system was administered in August. This is the most immediate and reliable way to be notified of any changes.
  • Local media will also be informed of any changes under the name “Guardian Angels School;” however, the most reliable source is our emergency notification system.
  • Generally, we follow the Forest Hills School District; however, there are unique circumstances for that district and our school that could dictate different plans. Again, the best way to stay informed of any changes is through our emergency notification system.
  • If there are special circumstances that require lengthy communication, we will use our all-school email to notify parents of specific instructions and procedures.

Busing

  • Please monitor the status of the public school district in which you reside for their operational changes if you rely on their busing. If they are closed, they will not provide transportation. If they are delayed, transportation to GA will be delayed, as well, even if we are operating on a normal schedule.

Delayed Start or Early Dismissal

  • If we are operating on a two-hour delay, school will officially begin at 10:00am, with carline starting at 9:30am. Please do not bring your child to school before 9:30am, as a two-hour delay could be changed to a school closing.
  • Perhaps the most difficult situation is when the inclement weather does not begin until school has already started. We strongly consider the forecast ahead of time, hopefully avoiding the possibility of having to make this change throughout the school day. Our unique position of relying on five different school districts for busing adds to this difficult decision. If we are in school and a public district has made the decision to close early, all students of that district who planned to ride the bus home that day will be sent home when the buses arrive to Guardian Angels, unless we are notified differently by you. We will communicate all changes to you through our emergency notification system and/or email.

God Bless,

Corey Stoops

Recognizing Our Amazing Teachers!

Everyone knows that Guardian Angels boasts some of the most amazing teachers and staff members! Each week, we want to recognize two of them and shower them with love and appreciation. This week we celebrate our Physical Education Teacher, Corey Frank, and our Paraprofessional with Optimall Services, Ceil Johnson.

Corey is an exceptional teacher and a fantastic colleague. He consistently steps up to cover for others, assist in the office, and tackle any tasks that arise. His enthusiasm for setting new health goals inspires the students, and his creative gym games keep them engaged. Thank you for always going above and beyond.

We're incredibly grateful to have Ceil from Optimal Services with us to support our students. Her expertise in teaching is unparalleled, and her patience knows no bounds. Ceil consistently takes the time to assist students and collaborates with our teachers to elevate their student’s reading skills. Thank you for your unwavering support in our learning journey.

Please join us in recognizing and celebrating these two outstanding GA staff members. You can leave a kind note here. Notes, cards, emails, flowers, gift cards, etc. are always appreciated!

Join Us in Funding Future Angels This Giving Tuesday

Guardian Angels is Family. We, as parishioners of Guardian Angels Parish, grow together through the community that is unique only to GA. This community is deeply committed to growing our legacy through the next generation of Catholics devoted to living their faith. One way we do this is through our parish’s largest ministry, Guardian Angels School.

Our school has provided our Angels a magnificent place to grow for more than 120 years. Students leave our school with a strong Catholic core and are ready to compete with the top learners in a competitive academic world. Every year, we strive to provide a top-notch education for all of our families.

Guardian Angels is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our students to flourish. We are determined to continue Funding Future Angels. Our plan to accomplish this in the coming years includes updating our auxiliary services spaces and making safety enhancements and improvements to our school campus and facilities through purchasing additional security cameras and replacing the doors in the Pit.

We are asking for your help to make these projects happen. This will be our school’s single largest fundraiser for the year.

Consider supporting Guardian Angels School on Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday is the week after Thanksgiving; it’s a movement to encourage people to give back to their own community. This year, we hope you give back to our Guardian Angels community as we participate in this Giving Tuesday Campaign on December 2nd.

Be on the lookout for an email on December 2nd with a specific link to donate to this one-day fundraising campaign. Donations made on December 2nd, through our online platform, will not be assessed by the Archdiocese, meaning your entire donation stays with Guardian Angels. Offline donations (cash or checks) or donations made on a different day are not included in this assessment waiver.

Support for Elizabeth Pyles

Many of you know and love our school nurse, Mrs. Pyles, who has cared for our students and staff with steady kindness for many years. We are saddened to share that she is once again facing a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. As a community, we want to surround her and her family with prayer, support, and encouragement.

We will come together in the following ways to honor and support her:

Angels on Call

Donations will be collected through Angels on Call, our school/parish organization that supports families in need. Contributions may be made here

or by dropping cash or checks at the GA school or parish offices. Two generous anonymous donors have offered to match every dollar raised up to $5,000, doubling the impact of our community’s support.

Prayer Service

Students and staff will take part in a brief school-wide prayer service in honor of Mrs. Pyles at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12 in the church. This gathering will allow us to lift her up, offer blessings, and pray together. We encourage everyone to keep Mrs. Pyles in their daily prayers.

Meal Train

To help ease the daily burden on her family, we have organized a meal train. If you are able to provide a meal, please sign up using the link below. At this time, please sign up for only one date so that as many families as possible can participate. Sign up here.

Teal Shirt Pep Rally

Teal represents ovarian cancer awareness. On November 21, students may wear a teal shirt instead of their uniform shirt by making a suggested donation of $1—or any amount you are comfortable giving—in honor of Mrs. Pyles. All donations to be out of uniform can be brought to school on November 21 and will go directly to support her family.

Thank you for helping us show Mrs. Pyles how deeply she is loved and appreciated. Your prayers, generosity, and support mean more than you know.

EdChoice Deadline for the 2025-2026 School Year

Great News for Anyone Who Pays Ohio Income Tax and Supports Guardian Angels

We have many students at Guardian Angels who benefit from scholarships provided by the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF). Ohio taxpayers who donate to the CEF may be able to claim a dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return, up to $750 per donor. For more information, click here.

We hope you consider a donation before the end of the year and choose "Guardian Angels School (Cincinnati)(C00160)" from the drop-down when prompted.

Parishioner and tax expert, Brien Dulle, is donating. Here's what he had to say. "Supporting the CEF is a no-brainer for me for two reasons. As a graduate of GA that is also sending my daughters to the school, I want to invest in the education that our children receive. Secondly, there's no extra money out of pocket since I can claim a dollar-for-dollar Ohio tax credit."

Sensory-Friendly Mass at St. John Fisher First Sundays of the Month

St. Gregory the Great Family of Parishes and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Office for Persons with Disabilities offers a Sensory-Friendly Mass on the first Sunday of the month at St. John Fisher. All are welcome! A special invitation is extended to any person with autism, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, dementia, or sensory issues. These Masses may include lower lighting, quiet music and/or no music, and shorter more literal homilies; however, the biggest difference is that we try to create an environment free of stigma. We encourage families and individuals to get up and move if needed, to bring alternative seating, fidgets or noise cancelling headphones, and to participate in the liturgy just as they are.
