Principal for the Day

Third grader Anna Gruber took over administrative responsibilities yesterday as Principal for the Day. This was a package won at the Parish Bid and Buy last year. It was a great day filled with many administrative tasks such as completing announcements, visiting classrooms, supervising lunch duty, writing thank you cards for Teacher Appreciation Week, and preparing for meetings! As part of the major decisions she faced, she was passionate that an out of uniform day is needed! As such, all students may be out of uniform on Friday, May 1. Uniform bottoms or the approved GA sweatpants/GA gym shorts must be worn. Another part of day was for Anna to write about why she believes GA is great. Here is what she wrote!

These are my favorite things about GA:

1.      Penny Fair

2.      Monster Mash

3.      The kind people here

4.      All the teachers because all of them are so kind and funny

5.      Pep rallys

6.      New school mascot- Greg the Guardian

7.      All the sports because they are so fun (volleyball is my favorite)

8.      School playground

9.      Musicals

10.  Specials

My favorite teachers are Mrs. VonderHaar because she is so kind and does a lot of fun activities with the class. Also, I like Mrs. Moore because she is so funny. I like Ms. Myers because she is so fun and kind.

Something I would change about GA is nothing! I can’t think of anything I would change about GA.

Recognizing Our Amazing Teachers!

Everyone knows that Guardian Angels boasts some of the most amazing teachers and staff members! Each week, we want to recognize two of them and shower them with love and appreciation. This week we celebrate our Preschool Teachers, Emily Westerkamp and Lisa Peters.

Your patience, kindness, and natural ability to connect with children create a safe and joyful environment where curiosity can flourish. Starting in a new role is never easy, yet you’ve stepped in with confidence, creativity, and a genuine love for teaching that shines through each day. Thank you for helping our little angels!

Your steady presence, deep understanding of young learners, and unwavering dedication have shaped countless little lives in lasting ways. Thank you for the passion, wisdom, and love you bring to your classroom each day—you make a difference that reaches far beyond these early years. We appreciate all you do for GA!

Please join us in recognizing and celebrating these two outstanding GA staff members. You can leave a kind note here. Notes, cards, emails, flowers, gift cards, etc. are always appreciated!

Partner with the PTA

Calling all local businesses and organizations! The GA Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is looking for community partners to help us create meaningful opportunities for our students and families. Consider partnering with the PTA as a sponsor or hosting a giveback!

Giveback: a pre-defined event set by the PTA and your company where we market your company to our community of families and encourage attendance and a portion of proceeds from sales at the company are given back to the PTA.

  • Examples: Restaurant night where a % of sales supports the PTA, retail shop donating a portion of weekend sales, service-based business offering a special PTA promotion.

Sponsorship: a strategic partnership with the PTA where a company provides financial support in exchange for visibility and brand promotion at highly attended PTA events!

  • Benefits may include: your company logo placement on event signage and flyers; recognition in school newsletters and social media; direct connection with hundreds of local families.

How to Learn More/Express Interest:

  1. Fill out this survey (https://forms.gle/M3eTtvB6uRPmdX2a7) if you think your company would be interested in a potential partnership with GA!

Join the St. Gregory the Great Pastoral Council

In 2023, the Saint Gregory the Great Family of Parishes formed a unified Pastoral Council. This Council advises the pastor on the strategic direction and spiritual growth of the Family, above all by reporting the concerns of the laity.

Each church in the family—Saint John Fisher, Guardian Angels, and Immaculate Heart of Mary—is represented by three members serving staggered three-year terms. Because some members choose to renew their terms, the number of new members needed annually varies. In summer 2026, there will be three openings on the Council, one from each parish.

Please consider whether you or someone you know is interested in joining the Pastoral Council for a three-year term of service. No prior experience on a pastoral council is required.

The most important attributes members will have are:

1.    Strategic Thinking

2.    Diligence

3.    Spirituality

4.    Good Communication and Listening Skills

If you are interested in being considered for appointment to the Council, or if you wish to nominate someone, please email us no later than May 15th at Pastoralcouncil@sggparish.org.
