Principal's Message

Our Circling Time is near! On Friday, we will conclude the 2021-2022 school year! I sincerely thank every member of this community for supporting our efforts to help our students to be safe, productive in their learning, and striving to earn their HALOs. It was a year full of many academic successes, spiritual milestones, and personal growth. I am proud of the work accomplished by all throughout this school year.

Planning for the upcoming school year has already started in many ways. We are actively interviewing for several open positions, including the assistant principal role. First round interviews concluded yesterday, and we are planning for second round interviews with selected candidates next week. Search committee members include Lauren Dotzauer, PK teacher; Bree Bockhorst, primary teacher; Kathy Myres, intermediate teacher; Emily Gaul, junior high teacher; Maria Cohen, specials teacher; Mark Dulle, business manager; and Amy Vogele, Education Board member. Please join me in praying for God’s guidance and wisdom as we search for our new assistant principal. I have also accepted the resignation of preschool teacher, Kelly White. Please join me in wishing her well!

Details for the closing day are listed below. Please remember that all students must be picked up at 10:30 on Friday. Bussing in the morning is available; however, students will not have bus transportation at the end of the day for the 10:30 dismissal.

If you have any questions throughout the summer, please call the school office (513-624-3141). You can also email Melissa Boston or Corey Stoops. If you need to come on campus, please call/email ahead of time to make sure the building is open.

In closing, thank you for sending your angels to GA this school year. I cherish each one of the students and have truly enjoyed interacting with them as they developed throughout the year. Guardian Angels School is a special place because of the people who make this an outstanding community! May God bless each community member for a safe and fun summer! I look forward to seeing all our angels again in 82 days as we begin the 2022-2023 school year!

All my life’s a circle, sunrise and sundown.

The moon rose through the nighttime,

‘Till the daybreak comes around.

All my life’s a circle, but I can’t tell you why

The seasons spinning ‘round again.

The years keep rolling by.

God bless,

Corey

Last Wednesday Herald

This is the last Wednesday Herald of the school year. These all school emails will begin again in early August.

Last Day of School

Our last day of school is scheduled for Friday, May 27. Bus service will be available in the morning, but there will be no bus transportation for dismissal. All students must be picked up from school. We will conclude the school year at Mass with the circle song. Mass begins at 9:00. Parents are invited to join us for Mass, but be aware seating will be limited. This Mass will also be livestreamed to our Facebook page and YouTube channel. After Mass, students will return to their classrooms and all students will be dismissed at 10:30. Report cards, student awards, and IOWA results will be sent home on the final day.

Note from the Nurse's Office

Attention all current 6th-grade parents:

Thank you to everyone who has already returned immunization forms this year.

Letters were sent home earlier this month to remind families who have not already done so, to submit records of vaccinations required by the State of Ohio PRIOR to entry into 7th grade. Those two vaccinations are a Tdap Booster, and one dose of Meningococcal vaccine.

To all parents of students with Emergency Medications:

Allergy and Asthma action plans were sent home earlier this month to all families who have shared that their child has been prescribed an emergency medication (Inhaler, Epinephrine, etc.). Please have these updated over the summer so you will be all set for the start of the school year in August. If you prefer an electronic copy, I am happy to email one to you. My address is: epyles@gaschool.org

Playground Hours Are 8:00am-6:00pm

We want to remind everyone of the hours of operation for our new playground equipment. The portion of the new playground that was installed in the fall sits outside the area where our old equipment sat. Since it is outside the mulch area and is now closer to other property lines, the portion of the equipment with the slide CANNOT be used outside of the posted playground operating hours. Those hours are 8:00am-6:00pm.

Extended Care

Guardian Angels School offers an Extended Day Program from 2:45pm to 6:00pm for students at our school. If interested, please click here for more information, registration form, and pricing for the K-8 program. All forms have been updated for the 2022-2023 school year.

Ice Cream Truck Will Be At GA On Last Day of School

The PTA has invited Special Neat Treats to Guardian Angels for the last day of school. Special Neat Treats is an ice cream truck that has been featured on local news, national publications and the Today show. It is a family-run ice cream truck that is staffed by a father and his two adult children with Down Syndrome.

Special Neat Treats will be parked by the GA Pavillion on Friday, May 27th from 10:30-11:30am. After students are dismissed from school, families are invited to make individual purchases from the truck and celebrate the conclusion of the school year. All treats range from $2- $5. Treats are not being purchased by PTA. Parents will need to purchase treats, and monitor selections for food allergies. The ice cream truck takes cash or credit cards.

While students are enjoying their treats, teachers will be celebrating the conclusion of another year together at a special luncheon. Parents will be responsible for monitoring their children.

If you are interested in learning more about ice cream truck, please check out the Special Neat Treats Facebook Page.

Camp GAudeo 2022 Square.png

Camp GAudeo Help Is Needed

Thanks to an unprecedented response to Camp GAudeo (June 27-July 1), we have over 120 students in grades 4-7 registered for our week of fun. Now we have a great need for adequate adult chaperone assistance for each day of camp. The Youth Ministry team is asking families to consider if there is an adult in your household who could commit to a day (or more) to help with this important ministry. Adult chaperones act as liaisons for high school counselor leaders and offer supervision for activities under the direction of the youth minister. Contact Bradley Barnes in the Youth Ministry Office if you have any questions, or sign up at this link.

Fathers Team Meeting This Friday

This Friday, Fathers Team will be meeting for Fathers Team "Lite” which consists of review and discussion of the upcoming Sunday's scripture readings. All GA fathers are invited to join either in person or via Zoom. Our meeting will start at 6:05am Friday morning and last for one hour. Together we explore the readings and consider how the scripture's message can be applied to our daily lives. If you are holding back because you’re not an expert, join the crowd....neither are any of us! Join us in person in the Undercroft (Conference Room B), or by Zoom, this Friday at 6:05 am. Contact us at GAfathersteam@gmail.com for the zoom information, or to get on the GA Fathers Team email distribution.

Students will have the option to buy additional items during lunch, as long as they have an established account with a positive balance. To set up a new account, or manage an exisiting account, click here.

Attendance Line

If your child will be absent or late to school, please call the main school office by 8:00 each morning. We recently upgraded our telephone system. In doing so, we removed the former “attendance line.” All parents needing to report their child absent or late to school should call our Office Assistant, Melissa Boston, using the main school phone number - 624-3141.

Christian Service Program - Faith in Action

The purpose of the Christian Service Program is to enhance the religion curriculum at Guardian Angels Church. It is the duty of all Christians to reach out in service to those around them. Christ asks us to be His hands and feet on earth, keeping His mission of reaching out to those in need alive. The students will complete their service within the following settings: at home, the parish community/school and the community at-large. This outreach may be completed individually, with a partner, or in a group.

This program will focus more on the meaning of the actual service opportunities rather than completing a prescribed amount of time. You will choose activities for each component—service to your family, service to your school/parish and service to the poor and vulnerable in our community. There is no minimum requirement of hours to complete. Grades 1-3 are required to complete at least 2 activities for each component; grades 4-8 at least 3 for each. You are certainly encouraged to complete more! See your Religion teacher, Mrs. Froehlich, or the parish website for a list of suggested activities and the log sheet.

Questions? Contact Kay Froehlich, Director of Religious Education, for more information.
