Principal's Message

I look forward to the return of our angels in less than a week! It will be exciting to have the students back in the building — eager to learn, see friends, and grow in multiple ways. It will be another year of guiding each student to earn their H.A.L.O. by being Honest, Accountable, and a Leader to Others! Please read the below carefully for many important updates and notices for the upcoming year.

  • Homeroom lists were sent last week, and all students’ schedules will be active in Plus Portals/Rediker by the end of the day today. Students/parents may log-in to see detailed schedules. If you do not have a Plus Portals/Rediker account, please contact our Technology Coordinator, Mark Rinaudo.  If you have trouble logging into your account or need your password reset, please contact Melissa Boston in the office either by calling (513) 624-3141 or emailing her.

  • Last week, we conducted an initial test of our emergency notification system, which will be used when all-school communications are necessary in events such as a change in school operation due to weather. All parents should have received both a text message and an automated voice message. We retested the system again today, Thursday, August 11th, to make sure all parents are now included. If you did not receive an automated voice call and a text message, please contact Melissa Boston at (513) 624-3141.
  • Student Supply Kits are available for pick up today until 3 p.m. Kits are organized by grade level in the primary hallway. You may enter through the school main office.
  • I hope to see everyone at our Meet and Greet on Tuesday, August 16th beginning at 1 p.m. Students may drop off school supplies in their classrooms, meet their teacher, and enjoy a tasty treat on their way out!
  • Picture Day is scheduled for September 19! More information to come.
  • All parents are invited to attend the Opening Ceremony for our first day of school, beginning at 9 a.m. Students and faculty will gather in front of the main school entrance for a 10-15 minute celebration of our first day of the new school year.
  • Our first school mass will be held on Wednesday, August 24th, beginning at 8:15 a.m.
  • On Friday, August 5th, the Emergency Medical Form was sent via email to all parents. In addition, all kindergarten parents received the Kindergarten Medical Form via email on Monday, August 8. These forms are required in the case emergency assistance or transportation to a hospital is needed. These must be returned to school by the first day of school. You can email it to Melissa Boston, bring it to the school during the Meet and Greet, school supply pick-up, or drop it off at another convenient time. We will also make additional copies available at our Meet and Greet.
  • All parents and students are required to read the 2022-2023 Student Handbook and fill out a Handbook Acknowledgement Form. Click here to review and complete the form.
  • Please join me in welcoming Lisa Storm as our new 6th grade English/Language Arts Teacher! Lisa comes to Guardian Angels with extensive experience in this subject area and Catholic Education. We are very blessed for her to be part of our community.

I hope you enjoy the final days of summer!

God bless,

Uniform Guidelines

The complete GA uniform must be worn on the first day of school, however, we understand that several families are experiencing difficulties purchasing uniform items due to shipment/processing delays from vendors. Please do not worry if you are in this situation. Your child may wear clothing as similar as possible to the school uniform until your order arrives.

Gym Uniform

Approved GA gym shorts must be worn in grades 4-8. These can be ordered through USports. Any GA t-shirt can be worn during gym class. We are working with USports to develop an additional gym shorts option for students and will provide an update once available. Until the new shorts are available, students can wear any shorts that are appropriate in length (close to the knees).

Junior High

The official Guardian Angels Junior High hoodie that will be considered a part of the dress code will be ordered separately once school starts. Other spirit wear ordered through USports will be considered out of uniform.

Out of Uniform Days

Unless otherwise announced, all out of uniform days will be "tops only". Students are permitted to wear an out of uniform top with Guardian Angels approved uniform bottoms, sweatpants, or gym shorts.

Visit the GA website and review the 2022-2023 Uniform Policy for more information.

8th Grade Fundraisers

The 8th grade class will be hosting multiple fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for their class trip and graduation activities.

Car Wash

The car wash will be held at McNicholas High School. Consider dropping your car off before heading to Mass!

Sunday, August 21st 9 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.

More information is attached.

Fall Mums Sale

Order your fall mums today! 9-inch potted mums cost $10 each. Order online or use the attached form and pay with a check payable to Jenn O'Toole. Paper orders can be dropped off at the school or parish office.

Orders are due Friday, September 2nd.

Mums can be picked up Friday, September 9th from 3- 8 p.m. in the GA Pavilion.

Lunch Service

Kaldi's Catering Services provides GA students with lunch offerings each day. Due to supply chain shortages, menu options are limited for the 2022-2023 school year. Parents need to set up and pre-order lunches through the EZ Schools Apps platform. Limited lunch items are available for students who have active accounts with available funds on the day of service. Please create an account if you don't already have one.

Cafeteria Volunteers Needed

We are always in need of helpful hands to keep an eye on our students in grades K-8 during lunch. Please consider sharing a small part of your day to assist. All volunteers must be SafeParish trained or have transferred their VIRTUS training to SafeParish. If you are interested, please sign up!

IHM Divorce Support Group for Children

IHM will host two, 10-week sessions of the Divorce Support Group for Children throughout the year, in the fall and in the spring. The fall session will begin on September 7th and run for 10 consecutive Wednesday evenings, ending November 9th. The group will meet each week from 6:30- 7:30 p.m. in the IHM school cafeteria. Children in the group will learn and practice coping mechanisms to help them adjust to the divorce of their parents. They will also participate in therapeutic activities and group discussions to help share their feelings and thoughts with loved ones.

The IHM Divorce Support Group for Children is facilitated by Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Jodi Turpening MA, LPCC-S. Contact Jodi to sign up (513)388-4096.

Summer Math and Reading Assignments

Now is the time to make sure students entering grades 1-8 are wrapping up their summer math and reading assignments! Also, please remember our optional summer reading challenge!

Playground Hours Are 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

We want to remind everyone of the hours of operation for our new playground equipment. The portion of the new playground that was installed in the fall sits outside the area where our old equipment sat. Since it is outside the mulch area and is now closer to other property lines, the portion of the equipment with the slide CANNOT be used outside of the posted playground operating hours. Those hours are 8 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Christian Service Program - Faith in Action

The purpose of the Christian Service Program is to enhance the religion curriculum at Guardian Angels Church. It is the duty of all Christians to reach out in service to those around them. Christ asks us to be His hands and feet on earth, keeping His mission of reaching out to those in need alive. The students will complete their service within the following settings: at home, the parish community/school and the community at-large. This outreach may be completed individually, with a partner, or in a group.

This program will focus more on the meaning of the actual service opportunities rather than completing a prescribed amount of time. You will choose activities for each component—service to your family, service to your school/parish and service to the poor and vulnerable in our community. There is no minimum requirement of hours to complete. Grades 1-3 are required to complete at least 2 activities for each component; grades 4-8 at least 3 for each. You are certainly encouraged to complete more! See your Religion teacher, Mrs. Froehlich, or the parish website for a list of suggested activities and the log sheet.

Questions? Contact Kay Froehlich, Director of Religious Education, for more information.
