• When dropping off through the car line, please stay in your car and have your child independently exit the vehicle. Staff members are there to assist!
• Afternoon car line dismissal is very congested. It is imperative to make sure your child is accompanied at all times. All parents must park their cars and meet their child at the school entrance. Students are not allowed to walk through the parking lot unattended. 
• It is very important for parents to arrive at school by 2:40 p.m. at the latest. 
• Park on the left side of the parking lot. The right side is used for buses. If all spaces to the left are taken, you may park along the fence line of the right side. Please do not park in any other space as buses have a very difficult time maneuvering around cars parked on their side of the parking lot.

Health Update

Between 8/24/22-8/30/22, 2 community members tested positive for COVID:

Thank you to all the parents who continue to contact the school nurse with notifications about positive cases, exposures within the family, and other health-related items. This strong communication allows us to properly notify our community of positive cases which we hope will prevent additional spread within the school, and prevent bringing it home to vulnerable loved ones.

Picture Day is September 19th

Fall Picture Day will be Monday, September 19th. A reminder that students may dress out of uniform, but should wear school-appropriate attire. Order information will be coming soon!

Classroom Coordinators Needed

The PTA needs your help to support our teachers and students this year and is looking for classroom coordinators for each homeroom. Multiple spots are available for each homeroom, so grab your friends and sign up!

Preschool-4th grade

• Three parties per year (Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day)
• Coordinators plan an hour-long party, including games, snacks, and crafts.
• We have plenty of ideas to share from past parties, so there is no need to feel overwhelmed if this is your first time signing up!

5th-8th grade

• Three pizza and movie parties (Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day)
• Coordinators collaborate with the teachers to pick up pizza and select a movie.

St. Ursula Academy Upcoming Events for Grade School Girls

St. Ursula invites grade school girls to visit and experience all the reasons why they were awarded "Best of Cincinnati" in the school category by the Cincinnati Award Program.

• Shadow Days: Now through December- Be a Bulldog for a day while you visit classes, make friends, meet teachers, take a tour, and experience the sisterhood.
• Grade School Volleyball Night: September 20th- Cheer on the Bulldogs and learn school cheers.
• Educational Services (ES) Program Night: September 22nd- Learn more about SUA's one-of-a-kind program for students with identified learning disabilities.
• Admissions Information Night: September 29th- Learn about the admissions process and timelines. A tour is included during this event.
• Open House: October 23rd

Change in Dismissal/Notice of Absence

Changes in afternoon dismissal occur frequently for our families, and we are happy to get messages to students. However, if you need to change how your child is getting home from school, please contact Melissa Boston by phone call before 2 p.m. All messages must come through the main school office. Please do not email teachers, as they do not always receive emails throughout the day. Calling the school will make sure we receive the message so we can properly inform your child of how they are getting home. Also, if your child is absent, please call the school to inform us of their absence. Again, emailing does not always ensure all the proper staff members receive notification. The main office phone number to be used in all instances of absence, change of dismissal, etc. is (513) 624-3141.

Emergency Medical Form

These forms are required in the case emergency assistance or transportation to a hospital is needed. These must be returned by the first day of school. Please email the completed form to Melissa Boston.

Basketball Registration is Now Open

Guardian Angels boys and girls basketball registration is now open to all families of Guardian Angels Church and School for 3rd-8th grade students. To register, please visit the Boosters website. 

Registrations for girls must be received by September 27th and registrations for boys must be received by October 15th.

Chess Club Registration is Open

Guardian Angels School is excited to be selected to participate again in the Cris Collinswirth Proscan Fund Chess in School program this year. 

The Chess Club meets on Mondays from 2:45-4 p.m. throughout the school year. The first meeting will be Monday, September 12th. 

Any student interested in learning and playing chess is welcome to attend! There is no fee for this club, but parents of participants are asked to volunteer three to four times per year at chess club meetings.

8th Grade Fundraisers

The 8th grade class will be hosting multiple fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for their class trip and graduation activities. 

Junior High Hoodies

The official Guardian Angels Junior High hoodie that will be considered a part of the dress code is now available to order! Orders must be placed by September 2nd for 7th and 8th-grade students. Click here for the order form.

Fall Mums Sale

We are almost sold out so be sure to order your fall mums today! 9-inch potted mums cost $10 each. Quantities are limited. Order online or use the attached form and pay with a check payable to Jenn O'Toole. Paper orders can be dropped off at the school or parish office. 

Orders are due Friday, September 2nd. 

Mums can be picked up Friday, September 9th from 3- 8 p.m. in the GA Pavilion.

Car Wash

The car wash will be held on Sunday, September 25th from 9 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. at McNicholas High School. Consider dropping your car off before heading to Mass!

Scout Registration is Open

Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts are starting up for the 2022-2023 school year!

Cub Scouts

Cub Scouts is open for both boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade and is fun for the entire family! Contact Joe Lauer (513) 515-0234 or Liz Sebesy (513) 748-5249 with any questions. 

Boy Scouts

Troop 445 has been a vital troop at GA for over 75 years! Boy scouts is open to all boys ages 11-18. Meetings are held every Monday night at 7 p.m. at the GA Scout House. Come join the fun!

Girl Scouts

Does your child love learning new skills, camping, the outdoors, or making crafts? Come join one of our troops! Meetings are held monthly and begin in September. Girl Scouts is open to all girls in 2nd-8th grade.

• Juniors: 4th-5th grade
• Cadettes: 6th-8th grade

Halo Hustle 5K

Be sure to register your student for the Halo Hustle 5K walk/run under their homeroom team! The homeroom with the most sign ups will win a pizza party. Any students that register by Wednesday, September 7th will get an out-of-uniform day to sport their Halo Hustle t-shirt with uniform bottoms. 

The Halo Hustle is Saturday, September 17th at 6:30 p.m. The race will be followed with a party, including an awards ceremony, live music from Marshall Street Project, food trucks, beverages, games, and a ninja warrior course for all ages!

Race registration includes a bib tag, t-shirt, and a "swag bag". All proceeds benefit Guardian Angels School. Again this year, we are offering a Family Bundle, where you can sign up a family of up to 4 for $100. Additional registrations are $20 each. Click here for more information. 

Cafeteria Volunteers Needed

We are always in need of helpful hands to keep an eye on our students in grades K-8 during lunch. Please consider sharing a small part of your day to assist. All volunteers must be SafeParish trained or have transferred their VIRTUS training to SafeParish. If you are interested, please sign up!

Join the Green Team

The Guardian Angels Green Team is looking for new members!

The Green Team is a group of parents, teachers, and students who are interested in spearheading sustainability updates and events for the school. It is a great opportunity for parents to get involved with their children in creating positive changes for our community together!

Playground Hours Are 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

We want to remind everyone of the hours of operation for our new playground equipment. The portion of the new playground that was installed in the fall sits outside the area where our old equipment sat. Since it is outside the mulch area and is now closer to other property lines, the portion of the equipment with the slide CANNOT be used outside of the posted playground operating hours. Those hours are 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. 

IHM Seeking Confirmation Coordinator

IHM is looking for a part time, 20 hour a week, Coordinator of Confirmation to help our youth to encounter Christ and strengthen their personal relationship with Jesus through the treasures of the Catholic Faith. A degree (or working towards a degree) in Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies, Theology, Religious Education or related field is preferred, with experience with Middle School aged youth and fluency in Spanish a real plus! Please submit a cover letter and resume to Donna Wenstrup by September 6th.

PTA Dues

Guardian Angels has three major parent-led organizations that provide services to our students. 

PTA

The critical link between teachers and parents. In addition to planning special events, the PTA provides financial and resource support to fill many major gaps, including classroom equipment, in-school renovations, library support, teacher appreciation events, after-school enrichment programs, and more.

Athletic Boosters

Organizes Guardian Angels athletic programs, including maintaining our fields and gyms, and helping cover administrative costs of many of our programs. 

Music Boosters

Partners with the music teachers to organize our music programs and provide access to classroom instruments, sheet music, and other costs not covered by tuition.

Classroom Fees

Classroom party fees are $15 for each child's homeroom. Classroom coordinators organize parties for each homeroom for all grades. Parties include Halloween, Christmas, and either Valentine's Day or at the end of the year for 5th-8th grade. 

Teacher Gifts

Parents are welcome to donate towards gifts for GA staff. This is not mandatory but is a nice way to make sure our teachers and staff know how grateful we are for them. Please visit this link to contribute toward the following:

• Homeroom Teacher Christmas Gift- Your child's homeroom teacher will receive this collective monetary gift at Christmas time.

The Feast of the Guardian Angel

Please save the date for our celebration of the Feast of the Guardian Angel on Sunday, October 2nd! Our celebration will begin with the noon Mass and continue with a parish picnic. All are welcome to attend! Guardian Angels will provide pulled pork and chicken from Sweets & Meats BBQ. We ask parishioners attending to bring a side, salad, or a dessert to share. Please bring your dish in a throw-away container. Please RSVP through this link by September 23rd. 

Young Men's Faith and Fellowship

When: 1st and 3rd Monday every month from 8:00-9:00pm 

Where: Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Room B in the undercroft or by zoom 

Age: 20s - 40s 

Join together in brotherhood with other men to grow in virtue and faith. Each session combines the best research from science with the teaching of the Catholic faith and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of a man fully alive and capable of transforming himself, his family, and greater society. Join us every session or as your schedule permits. Young Women's Faith and Fellowship

When: 2nd and 4th Wednesdays every month from 8:00-9:00 pm, beginning July 27th

Join together with other women to expand your Catholic faith and build meaningful relationships as we dive into "Ways to Pray" from the Blessed is She devotional. If you aren't able to join us in-person for any school Masses, they will be broadcast on our YouTube channel. You are welcome to watch online!

Monster Mash Volunteers Needed

Do you love Halloween? Creating community? Please consider joining the Monster Mash committee. We NEED someone to shadow Amy Armstrong Smith to lead this Parish event. If that does not happen, 2022 will be the last Monster Mash. If you have any interest in chairing this event, or just being on the committee, please email Amy Armstrong Smith.

Fathers Team

Each Friday, Fathers Team will be meeting for Fathers Team "Lite” which consists of review and discussion of the upcoming Sunday's scripture readings. All GA fathers are invited to join either in person or via Zoom. Our meeting will start at 6:05 a.m. Friday morning and last for one hour. Together we explore the readings and consider how the scripture's message can be applied to our daily lives. If you are holding back because you’re not an expert, join the crowd....neither are any of us! Join us in person in the Undercroft (Conference Room B), or by Zoom, this Friday at 6:05 a.m. Contact us at [email protected] for the zoom information, or to get on the GA Fathers Team email distribution.

School Masses

You can find a full schedule of school Masses on the calendar in Rediker. We will be livestreaming all of the All School Masses through GA’s YouTube channel. 

Lunchroom News

Kaldi's offers a hot lunch option every day for our students. All meals must be pre-ordered before 8:30 a.m. the day of service; this is done through the Ez-Parent website. Students will have the option to buy additional items during lunch, as long as they have an established account with a positive balance. Attendance Line

If your child will be absent or late to school, please call the main school office by 8:00 a.m. each morning. All parents needing to report their child absent or late to school should call our Office Assistant, Melissa Boston, using the main school phone number (513) 624-3141.

Christian Service Program - Faith in Action

The purpose of the Christian Service Program is to enhance the religion curriculum at Guardian Angels Church. It is the duty of all Christians to reach out in service to those around them. Christ asks us to be His hands and feet on earth, keeping His mission of reaching out to those in need alive. The students will complete their service within the following settings: at home, the parish community/school and the community at-large. This outre/ach may be completed individually, with a partner, or in a group. 

This program will focus more on the meaning of the actual service opportunities rather than completing a prescribed amount of time. You will choose activities for each component—service to your family, service to your school/parish and service to the poor and vulnerable in our community. There is no minimum requirement of hours to complete. Grades 1-3 are required to complete at least 2 activities for each component; grades 4-8 at least 3 for each. You are certainly encouraged to complete more! See your Religion teacher, Mrs. Froehlich, or the parish website for a list of suggested activities and the log sheet.

Box Tops For Education

The Guardian Angels PTA collects Box Tops and uses the funds earned to purchase indoor recess games and outdoor recess equipment. Box Tops is now on a digital platform. To participate, you’ll need to download the Box Tops App and scan your grocery receipt within 14 days of purchase. You’ll find more information here.

Kroger Community Rewards

Have you signed up for Kroger Community Rewards and designated GA as your beneficiary? The more families who register, the more money our school receives through the program. Kroger Community Rewards offers a great way for you to support our school's technology fund...and you don't have to spend a penny. You can search for GA or use our NPO number, 80200. The amount Guardian Angels receives depends on the points our supporters rack up while grocery shopping.
