Principal's Message

We continue to move forward with a very positive and productive start to the school year! It has been wonderful to see our angels settling into their routines, working hard in their classrooms, and continuing to build strong relationships with their teachers and classmates. There is great energy throughout our building, and I am excited about all that lies ahead this year!

I am especially looking forward to welcoming our parents to Meet the Teacher Night tonight and tomorrow. These events provide an important opportunity to hear directly from our teachers, learn more about classroom expectations and routines, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. I look forward to seeing many of you on campus!

Following Meet the Teacher Night, we will head into our extended Labor Day weekend.

I hope all of our families enjoy the extra time together and have a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable holiday weekend.

When students return, we will begin our fall i-Ready diagnostic assessments. These assessments provide our teachers with valuable information about each student’s current strengths and areas for growth, helping us tailor instruction and support students throughout the year. Please see additional details below.

Thank you for helping us begin another great year at Guardian Angels. I am grateful for the continued partnership of our families and look forward to keeping this positive momentum going!

God Bless,

Corey Stoops

iReady Testing

Our students will begin iReady benchmark testing on September 8, with testing continuing through September 25. Different grade levels will test on different days during this window.

iReady is a computer-based assessment that helps us measure each student’s skills in reading and mathematics, identify areas of strength and areas that need additional support, and monitor academic growth throughout the school year.

We benchmark three times a year—fall, winter, and spring—so teachers can track progress, adjust instruction, and provide targeted interventions when needed. The spring iReady assessment also serves as our end-of-year Ohio state testing requirement for participating grade levels. Once testing is complete, we will provide parents with information explaining how to access and view their child’s iReady results.

We ask parents to help their children do their best by ensuring they are well rested, arrive at school on time, and eat a healthy breakfast on testing days. Your support helps our students feel prepared, confident, and ready to show what they know!

Required Documents from Every Family

EdChoice

Each family accepting the EdChoice scholarship received an EdChoice Award letter mailed from the Ohio Department of Education and Workplace. As a school, we are required to retain this document at the school. If you have not sent this form to the school yet, please do so this week. If you misplaced your letter or did not receive one, please fill out the template here and return to the school office.

Low Income Form

Every family received an email initiated by Katie Jacobs through our student information system- Plus Portals/Rediker. This email contained a link for families to fill our the required Low Income Form. Every family must fill out this form, regardless of income.

Long-Term Substitute Teachers Needed!

We are seeking a long-term substitute teacher for our Jr. High Math and Pre-K this fall. Please click here for more information and or to share with anyone who may be interested in applying.

Safe Snack List

Please carefully review and follow our Safe Snack List when bringing food items to school for distribution to students. All food items brought in for distribution must be included on the Safe Snack List—no exceptions. If an item does not appear on the list, it may not be brought in or distributed to students. Homemade and bakery items are not permitted. Please verify that all items are on the approved list before purchasing or sending them to school.

The complete Safe Snack List is available on our school website and is also foudn here. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for all students.

Carline/Parking Lot Reminders

Please help us maintain a safe and efficient parking lot during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. With many vehicles, buses, students, and staff moving through campus at the same time, it is essential that everyone follows our established procedures. Please review the following reminders:

  • Please use the morning carline whenever possible. Parents may park on the Gathering Space side of the lot and walk their children all the way to the school entrance; however, using the carline is strongly preferred and helps traffic move more efficiently.
  • All vehicles arriving on campus in the morning must enter from Brachman Avenue. Parents may not use the entrance between the rectory and church during morning arrival.
  • Please follow the directions of staff members on arrival duty. Pull forward as far as directed, remain attentive, and avoid cell phone use while in the carline. Students should be ready to exit promptly from the passenger side of the vehicle.
  • Students may not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m. Supervision is not available before that time. Families may line up in the carline before 7:30, but students must remain in their vehicles until 7:30 and staff members are present for supervision.
  • Please plan ahead and arrive early enough to complete drop-off by 7:55 a.m. Students are expected to be in their classroom seats by 8 a.m. Students who are not in their classrooms by 8 a.m. will be marked tardy.
  • During afternoon dismissal, parking spaces must be filled in the designated order. First, fill the spaces on the Gathering Space side of the lot. Once those spaces are full, families may park along the fence line on the bus side, followed by the spaces in front of the fence line. All remaining spaces must stay open to allow buses to safely enter and maneuver through the lot. Vehicles parked on the bus side will not be released until all buses have exited.
  • Children may never walk through the parking lot unattended. Students must remain with a parent or responsible adult at all times while walking through the lot.
  • Thank you for your patience, attention, and cooperation. Following these procedures consistently allows us to keep all of our Angels safe while making arrival and dismissal as efficient as possible.

Meet the Teacher Night

We are excited to welcome our parents into the building for Meet the Teacher Night! This evening is a valuable opportunity to connect more fully with your child’s teacher, learn about the curriculum and academic expectations for the year, and better understand the routines, policies, and procedures that help each classroom/grade level run successfully. We value the strong partnership between home and school and look forward to an informative and positive evening together!

Meet the Teacher Night is intended to provide parents with an overview of their child’s classroom and the year ahead. To allow teachers to share information with all families, we ask that conversations regarding individual students be reserved for another time. Teachers are always happy to schedule a separate conversation to discuss your child’s specific needs, progress, or other questions in greater detail.

Thank you for taking the time to join us and for your continued partnership and support. We are grateful for the opportunity to work together as we help each student have a happy, successful, and faith-filled school year! Details for both nights are listed below.

  • Kindergarten–Grade 3: Wednesday, September 2 at 6:00 p.m. This is a parents-only event. Parents should report directly to their child’s homeroom, with presentations beginning promptly at 6:00 p.m. Teachers will offer three 20-minute sessions, allowing parents with children in multiple grade levels to attend more than one classroom presentation. An announcement will be made over the loudspeaker at the end of each session to indicate when it is time to transition to the next classroom.
  • Grades 4–8: Thursday, September 3 at 6:00 p.m. This is also a parents-only event. Parents of students in grades 4–6 should report to their child’s homeroom for a grade-level presentation. Junior High parents should report to the Undercroft at 6:00 p.m. for a combined presentation from the Junior High teachers. Following the presentation, teachers will return to their classrooms and be available for individual visits.
  • Specials Teachers: Specials teachers will be available during the K–3 Meet the Teacher Night on September 2. Maria Cohen will instead be available during the Grades 4–8 event on September 3.

After-School Art Enrichment

Dues and Class Fees

Annual Dues – $100 per family

This single fee supports all three parent‑led organizations at Guardian Angels: PTA, Athletic Boosters, and Fine Arts Boosters. (The PTA facilitates collection.) We rely on your support to fund essential programs and improvements.

  • PTA Initiatives: Penny Fair, used uniform exchange, teacher appreciation events, recess equipment, capital school improvements, and direct support for classroom needs.
  • Recent Impact: Last year’s fundraising supported the PTA’s development project of painting the remaining school interior hallways and stairwells and updating the nurse’s office and intervention teaching spaces. These spaces were painted and outfitted with all new furniture.
  • Athletic Boosters: Funds help cover rising costs for uniforms, equipment, and league fees, and support ongoing turf field and grounds maintenance.
  • Fine Arts Boosters: Supports performing and visual arts programs across all grade levels.

Class Fees – $20 per child

Funds cover supplies and snacks. Preschool–4th grade will have parties led by their classroom coordinators for Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. 5th–8th grade will enjoy pizza parties for these same events.
