Financial Assistance Available for GA Families

Guardian Angels School will begin accepting scholarships provided through the EdChoice Scholarship Program and the EdChoice Expansion Program for the 2020-2021 school year.

The EdChoice Scholarship Program  provides state-funded scholarships to students who live in neighborhoods for designated public schools (the designation includes specific schools, not entire districts). The state has expanded this list of designated schools to include several local public schools. Families who live in neighborhoods covered by these individual schools can apply for a $4,650 scholarship to use towards tuition at a private school (Guardian Angels).  It is important to note that this scholarship is only for incoming students who do not currently attend a private school.  However, incoming kindergarten students of current Guardian Angels school families (living in one of these designated public school areas) can apply for the scholarship.  Click here  for the complete list of designated public schools.

The EdChoice Expansion Scholarship  is an income-based program for families in grades KDG-6 who have an income at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Families of students currently enrolled at Guardian Angels can apply for this scholarship, unlike the traditional scholarship described above.

The priority application period for the EdChoice scholarships begins February 1 and concludes April 15  . Application forms/materials will be made available by the Ohio Department of Education at the end of January. We will make these available in the school office and also on our school website. Ahead of time, families of students intending to apply for the EdChoice scholarship must first be accepted to Guardian Angels School based upon our admission standards.

The Catholic Education Foundation for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati  is currently accepting applications for 2020-2021 elementary school (K-8) tuition assistance grants. The Catholic Education Foundation tuition aid program became a reality for the 2017-2018 school year through the One Faith, One Hope, One Love Capital Campaign. Due to the generosity of local parishes, including ours, the Catholic Education Foundation will again be able to offer over $2,000,000 in financial aid! I strongly encourage families to apply for tuition assistance through the Catholic Education Foundation.  All families who plan to apply for financial assistance from Guardian Angels must first apply for assistance from this source.   The deadline to apply is January 31, 2020.  Last year, over $20,000 was given to Guardian Angels families from the Catholic Education Foundation Tuition Assistance Fund.

To learn more and apply, please visit the archdiocese's  tuition assistance page .

If you have any questions, please contact  Corey Stoops .
Guardian Angels Preschool

Our Preschool classrooms are officially full for the 2020-2021 school year! These are the 3/4 year old classes. Guardian Angels Parishioners have filled 20 of the 24 spots; 4 non-parishioners have turned in applications to be on the wait list. These families will fill the remaining spots, if still available, when enrollment opens to the community on a first come first served basis on Sunday.
There are two remaining spots in the Pre-K program. Enrollment is open to GA parishioners and current GA school families now. Enrollment to other families opens at Open House on Sunday.

Registration materials for new students are available on the preschool page of the school website. Re-enrollment information was shared with current families individually.
Open House & Catholic Schools Week

The Guardian Angels School Open House is scheduled for this Sunday, January 26th  from 1:00-3:00pm. This is a great opportunity to meet other GA families and teachers, talk with administrators and help us kick off Catholic Schools Week.

You can help us spread the word about Open House by sharing our Facebook event . We also have yard signs in the Gathering Space available to be picked up after all Masses this weekend. The signs are great way to advertise our Open House.

Open House kicks off Catholic Schools Week. For a complete list of the week's events at Guardian Angels School, click here . The theme of Catholic Schools Week 2020 is “#GAisFamily.” As a thriving Catholic school, we strive to provide the best educational instruction and religious formation for your family. Catholic Schools Week is a wonderful time to thank God for the many blessings He gives us as well as show our gratitude to you for choosing Guardian Angels and trusting us to enrich your children’s lives! We also thank the parish for supporting our school through your donations and prayers. Don't forget to send in your family pictures (8x10) or smaller to add to our #GAisFamily wall! And p lease stop by the Religious Education table at the GA Open House. We will have information about Bible Camp, Camp GAudeo, our youth ministry program, and the Vocation Awareness Ministry. We will also offer a free raffle of religious books for all ages!

Grandparents Day is  Monday, January 27.   All grandparents are welcome to join us for a celebration that begins with Mass at 9:00am; another special guest is welcome if grandparents are not available). Guests will also be taken on a tour of the school and beverages will be provided.

"All About Me" Art Show This Weekend

K-5 Students are very excited to show off their art projects in our annual Catholic Schools Week Art Show in our school undercroft/cafeteria. Every student in these grades will have two pieces on display. Please visit before and after GA Masses during the following times:
Saturday, January 25:  4:30-6:15pm
Sunday, January 26: 9:00-3:00pm
You are also welcome to visit on Monday, January 27th from 8:00am-12:00pm.
Framed artwork may be purchased for only $25, including professional quality reproductions if more than one work for a student is desired by parents, grandparents, relatives, or friends. Of course, any unpurchased framed work will also be returned to the students next week, without a frame.

New this year!  Take a raffle chance on baskets of "Our Favorite Things!" We've filled baskets with all sorts of art supplies, games, gift cards to Hobby Lobby and Michael's, which our GA artists love. All proceeds from the raffle baskets will be used to purchase extra fun artistic items that students can choose during early finisher/choice time in the art room.
We haven't forgotten our 6th, 7th, & 8th graders either! Eighth grade artists will have a special display in the Gathering Space, while 6th & 7th graders created drawings on the walls on the way, and bulletin boards nearby.
All students are so proud of their colorful and creative work, so mark your calendar now to stop by and be amazed by their talent! If you are able to volunteer on Friday between 8:30-2:30pm, or Monday anytime between 10:00-3:00pm, please email Mrs. Pavely.
Christian Service Program

Time to think about the Christian Service Program again! This program will focus more on the meaning of the actual service opportunities rather than completing a prescribed amount of time. You will choose activities for each component—service to your family, service to your school/parish and service to the poor and vulnerable in our community. There is no minimum requirement of hours to complete. Grades 1-3 are required to complete at least 2 activities for each component; grades 4-8 at least 3 for each. You are certainly encouraged to complete more! There are numerous suggestions on the attached sheet in which the students may volunteer their time in service to others. This list is by no means a complete list. Feel free to add any other organizations. This sheet will be due to your Religion teacher on May 1, 2020 .
GA Students Perform the AristoCats

Tickets are available online. Come out to support our GA performers and see all the hard work they have put into this musical!
Save the Date: Father-Daughter Dance

Please join us in your brightest neon at the Father/Daughter Dance on Saturday, February 29th. Our glow themed part, “Light Up the Night”, will take place in the undercroft from 7:00-10:00pm.

Next week's Herald will have more information about how to RSVP and pay the admission fee, which is $30 per family. All proceeds benefit the 8th Grade Washington D.C trip.

Family Rosary
GA is blessed to have Eucharistic Adoration almost every Thursday from 3:00-9:00pm. We begin those hours with the Family Rosary at 3:00pm. We say five decades of the rosary and rotate which mysteries we pray based on the day of the week or the liturgical season. It takes about 20 minutes. We will be praying each week for our Guardian Angels school and parish community. ALL ages welcome.
Click here for which classes will be leading throughout the remainder of the year.
Box Tops Goes Digital This Year
Box Tops is going digital! The Guardian Angels PTA collects Box Tops and uses the funds earned to purchase indoor recess games and outdoor recess equipment. This year, Box Tops is switching to a digital platform. To participate, you’ll need to download the Box Tops App. No more cutting labels off boxes! Instead, you’ll go into the Box Tops app and just scan your grocery receipt within 14 days of purchase. You’ll find more information attached . You can also watch a quick video showing how the new digital platform works here.

Currently, you can still find old Box Tops labels on some products. GA students can still submit those paper Box Tops to their homeroom teachers and parishioners can drop them off in the special collection envelope located on the bulletin board in the Church Gathering Space. Those labels will be picked up again on March 1st . These physical labels are being phased out though so at some point the digital option will be the only way to submit Box Tops.
Kroger Community Rewards
Have you signed up for Kroger Community Rewards and designated GA as your beneficiary? The more families who register, the more money our school receives through the program. Kroger Community Rewards offers a great way for you to support our school's technology fund...and you don't have to spend a penny. You can search for GA or use our NPO number, 80200. The amount Guardian Angels receives depends on the points our supporters rack up while grocery shopping.
Amazon Shopping Supports GA

You can  sign-up  to have a portion of your purchase sales come back to Guardian Angels.
