It's Vocations Week

This week, our Angels have gotten to know a few individuals who have answered God’s call to the Religious life. Special thanks to Sr. Mary Ann, csj, Br. Pio Maria and Br. Alphonsus (Franciscan brothers studying at the Athenaeum,) and Fr. Ruffino from Comboni Missionary. Join us for Mass Thursday at 8:15am as Fr. Dan Schmitmeyer from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati celebrates Mass with us!

Consider Donating Halloween Candy

The Guardian Angels Mission PSO will be collecting candy for the children of the St. Bernard School on Standing Rock Indian Reservation. The students at the school and other boys and girls who live on the reservation, along with the elders look forward to receiving the boxes of candy every year. It is their biggest each year!

Please bring in your extra Halloween Candy to donate to these children who do not get candy any other time of the year. Students should bring their extra Halloween Candy to school anytime this week.
Cookies for a Cure

Cookies for a Cure will be selling cookies after school during the car rider dismissal on November 8th . Cookies for a Cure is ran by four 8th grade students; Lucy Timko, Sophia Stephens, Annie Yorn, and Avery Elliot. The group sells cookies to raise money for Hope for Harper and The American Cancer society in hopes to stop cancer once and for all. Our goal is to raise $1000 for their cause. The cookies will cost $1.50-2.00 and there will be 2 to 3 cookies per bag. We hope that with your help we can reach our goal.  As this is an after school activity and not in accordance with our school safe snack policy, students will need to be with their parent when purchasing/consuming.

Fees/Dues/Gifts for 19-20
Just a reminder, some families have not paid their fees (PTA/Athletic Boosters/Music Boosters/Classroom fees) for the 2019-2020 school year. If you have not paid your dues, please visit  pay.gaschool.org.  Please ensure to pay attention to each payment; some are per family, and some are per student. We hope that you find this easy and convenient. Your contributions are very important to our children to continue to build a bigger, brighter future for each child, and to our teachers for recognizing their love and dedication to our children.
GA Wrestling Sign-Ups are Open
GA is one of the few K-6th grade schools in Cincinnati with its own wrestling team. Wrestling is a sport which you may not be familiar. The team practices twice a week at GA during the winter sport season and the weekend competitions are optional. Wrestling will build confidence, core strength, and teach discipline in your child. Wrestling will also help your son develop and improve his football skills in tackling, blocking, and overall athleticism.

The great thing about wrestling is that no matter how big or small your child is he will be matched up with an opponent his size. Competition is determined by weight class and age. Wrestling is also a great option in high school for those kids who have that football mentality but may not feel they’re big enough to compete.

Lastly, we have had many kids over the years that have been able to wrestle and play other sports during the winter season. If your child would like to give wrestling a try, and also wants to play other sports, we will work around their schedule. We strongly believe in the benefits of wrestling and our goal is simply to introduce the sport to any GA child who may have an interest.

You can sign up for wrestling through the GA Boosters website! Wrestling practice days and times will be posted on the GA Athletics website once they are determined. You will need to create a login to sign up. In the past, practices were held every Tuesday and Friday, from 6:00-8:00pm.
Fall Soup & Speaker Series
Please join us for the next installment of our Fall Soup and Speaker Series on November 12th . It's a great opportunity for soup, fellowship, and a fantastic speaker. All ages are welcome. Seminarian, Eddie Hoffmann, will take us on a journey through the Holy Land. He had the opportunity to travel there over the summer and will share highlights of the land in which Jesus lived.
Come for dinner at 6:00pm; the presentation begins at 7:00pm.
More information is attached .
Greeter Ministry
Guardian Angels Parish is looking to enhance what a welcoming community we are. Our parish will resume the MINISTRY OF GREETERS starting in November.

We are asking for some friendly faces to be at the Gathering Space doors 20 minutes before the Saturday and Sunday Masses.  You would be committing to a once a month obligation. We would like to have a minimum of 3 people greeting at each Mass. Feel free to have the whole family at the doors welcoming fellow parishioners and new ones as we join in the celebration of Mass together. A single person or a family can all serve in this ministry. (GA students may count this activity as Service to the Parish for the Christian Service Program.)

Please sign-up here if you would like to participate.

Cookie Ministry
Guardian Angels School Cookie Ministry teams up with the Parish Parish Peanut Butter group to feed families in need. The Peanut Butter group makes 1,500 peanut butter and bologna sandwiches. GA students donate cookies. St. Francis Seraph Church in Over-the-Rhine gives the food to families in need. Students are asked to bring in two dozen cookies, brownies, or rice krispie bars on their classroom's designated day. They do need to be bagged, two treats per bag. All 8th grade classes are responsible for the next donation on Monday, November 11th . A  complete schedule  for the school year is attached

Any GA school parent who submits the attached form no later than May 1, 2020 with over 25 hours of service documented will be entered into a drawing for one free in-parish tuition for the 2020-2021 school year. The winner must also be in good standing with VIRTUS. Examples of service opportunities and a list of the official rules for the challenge are listed on the PTA section of the website .

Box Tops Goes Digital This Year
Box Tops is going digital! The Guardian Angels PTA collects Box Tops and uses the funds earned to purchase indoor recess games and outdoor recess equipment. This year, Box Tops is switching to a digital platform. To participate, you’ll need to download the Box Tops App. No more cutting labels off boxes! Instead, you’ll go into the Box Tops app and just scan your grocery receipt within 14 days of purchase. You’ll find more information attached . You can also watch a quick video showing how the new digital platform works here.

Currently, you can still find old Box Tops labels on some products. GA students can still submit those paper Box Tops to their homeroom teachers and parishioners can drop them off in the special collection envelope located on the bulletin board in the Church Gathering Space. Those labels will be picked up again on March 1st . These physical labels are being phased out though so at some point the digital option will be the only way to submit Box Tops.
Kroger Community Rewards
Have you signed up for Kroger Community Rewards and designated GA as your beneficiary? The more families who register, the more money our school receives through the program. Kroger Community Rewards offers a great way for you to support our school's technology fund...and you don't have to spend a penny. You can search for GA or use our NPO number, 80200. The amount Guardian Angels receives depends on the points our supporters rack up while grocery shopping.
Amazon Shopping Supports GA
You can now support Guardian Angels Parish when you shop at Amazon.com! GA is a participant in the AmazonSmile Program. You can  sign-up  to have a portion of your purchase sales come back to Guardian Angels. When you make purchases through the AmazonSmile page, and have GA selected as your beneficiary, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products back to GA.  You have to be shopping from smile.amazon.com page of the site for GA to receive the benefit.
