It has been said that, without time, there could be no knowledge of God. As human beings, all of our encounters of the divine take place in the midst of everyday moments -- the ordinary repetition of minutes, days, months, and years. Today, as the season of Lent begins, we enter into a particularly precious period of time, time that is set aside for us to reflect not only on the ways that we have become separated from God, but also upon the great lengths to which God will go to bridge those divides and draw us near.

This evening at 7 pm, we invite you to join us in the LAC Sanctuary for a quiet and evocative time of scripture, song, confession, and prayer. In our Ash Wednesday service, worshipers will also be invited to receive an imposition of ashes on their foreheads as a symbol of our mortality, our sin, and our need for God's mercy and forgiveness. In this sacred time, we will be reminded of our utter dependance on the God who created us out of dust... and the fact that, in life and death and all points in between, we always belong to God.

Open Sanctuary from 11am-1 pm

Rev. Bynum will be in the sanctuary today from 11 am through 1 pm to speak with you, pray with you, and impose ashes if requested. The mood will be contemplative and peaceful. The sanctuary is open to all, so please spread the word to those who may be interested.
