We are thrilled to announce a very special fall kickoff celebration at LAC!

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 6th, we will welcome to our sanctuary the Emmy-award winning singer-songwriter, recording artist, educator, and activist Carrie Newcomer. In addition to performing some of her best-loved music from her twenty nationally-released albums, Carrie will share stories from her life on the road, including her work as a cultural ambassador with the American Embassy of India and as an advocate for peace in Africa and the Middle East.

Carrie has been described as a "prairie mystic" by the Boston Globe, as well as someone who "asks all the right questions" by Rolling Stone Magazine. Her low, resonant, and soothing voice, coupled with her progressive, informal spirituality, has been described by one observer as "rich as Godiva Chocolate."

Please note that this concert is free to everyone, so we hope you all will invite friends and bring neighbors with you to the event. As part of our SEEKER series, this community gathering is designed to achieve three goals: to EXPLORE meaningful issues that are important to us in our daily living; to DISCOVER, through critical conversations, new insights, patterns, and possibilities for health and wholeness; and to CONNECT with our friends and neighbors in new, life-affirming ways.

Carrie's ability to engage an audience is sure to make all three of these things happen. These connections will continue after the concert at a champagne and dessert reception, which is also offered free of charge.

As an added bonus, Carrie and her pianist, Gary Walters, will also join us for worship at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 7th.

With our traditional Block Party taking place immediately following the service, the whole weekend will hopefully be a perfect kick-off for a wonderful year of mission and ministry at LAC. We hope to see you there!
