Senate committee advances bill that could move University of Phoenix deal
The House passed a resolution earlier this month pushing back on the University of Idaho’s proposed University of Phoenix purchase through an affiliated nonprofit corporation. The Senate’s bill would instead create an independent body politic.
Lawmakers approved an amendment to the state constitution on Monday, sending a measure to voters this fall asking whether noncitizens should be allowed to vote.
Conflicting changes advance for school facilities bill
School districts are vocally opposed to lawmakers restricting their local control over moving to a four-day school week. There is also dissatisfaction with how the original bill divides the $1 billion bond among school districts based on average daily attendance.
