Y's Men Ping Pong Players Meet Mondays at Senior Center

Y's Men Ping Pong players get ready to play.

On Mondays from 2:30 to 4:00 pm there is a core group of seven Y's Men who consistently come almost weekly to the Westport Center for Senior Activities to play ping pong. The level of play varies from fair to quite good. They usually play 45 minutes of singles and 45 minutes of doubles. The group is very welcoming to new players regardless of their level of play. If any Y's Men would like to come by on a Monday to get a feel for the group, they are very welcome.

Y's Men can either just show up or contact Steve Eliot at steliot@aol.com. Participants must be registered with the Westport Center for Senior Activities which takes only a minute.

The Ping Pong Group is grateful to Holly Betts and Joe Anastasia at the Senior Center for setting up two tables and the allotted time each Monday.

Hoot Owls to Perform at Senior Center December 20

The Y's Men Hoot Owls will perform a holiday show at the Westport Center for Senior Activities on Friday, December 20 at noon. To attend, sign up for the Holiday luncheon at the Center.

More Details Provided for January 7 Trip to Pequot Museum

A Y's Men trip to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center is planned for Tuesday, January 7. Participants are expected to arrive at the Museum, located in Mashantucket, Conn., about 10:30 am.

While information about the trip has been circulated, even more detailed material is provided by clicking here.

Any Interest in Forming an Activity in Mindfulness?

Paul Epstein recently joined the Y’s Men and would like to start a mindfulness group.

He says that "there is a growing body of research on the benefits of mindfulness for health, healing, and happiness. If there’s enough interest, we can figure out the details together.

"For instance, we might start with a period of meditation followed by a discussion of various teachings. We could then end each session by exploring ways to integrate mindfulness into our daily lives."

He suggests that a first meeting could be held at his home. Paul has taught mindfulness for 50 years, including at the Westport Center for Senior Activities. He also is the author of Happiness through Meditation.

For more information and further discussion, contact Paul at epsteinmb@aol.com

Can You See This?

You may be able to read this, but many others can’t.

They need your help, and now it’s easy for you to give it to them.

Please bring your unused glasses, whether prescription or just readers, and drop them in the donation box at this Thursday's morning meeting.

The more pairs you bring, the more people you help, so bring in those unused glasses, or you will have to answer to Jon Fox.
