We're thrilled to enter our 67th year at Newark Catholic!

Important Notes about Opening Day

Arrival: Juniors and Seniors report at 9 a.m.; Freshmen and Sophomores report at 8 a.m.

Dismissal: Dismissal is at 1:30 p.m.

Lunch will be served.

Homerooms will be posted in the main lobby hallway; students will arrive and report to homeroom.

Schedules will be distributed in homeroom. Students will begin following them on day two.

Opening day is also picture day!

Additional Notes:

Access to Green Wave Drive from east bound Church Street remains closed
If your student needs to update his/her schedule, they'll need to make an appointment with our academic advisor, Keely Calvert
Opening Day mass is at 11 a.m. and is open to the community
Absences need to be reported to the school office

New Houses of Service

New this school year, we're excited to implement a house system designed to build and foster community and camaraderie among students, while infusing a little friendly competition. Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores have already been assigned to a house; freshmen and new students will be assigned to a house during a special ceremony this week. Look forward to hearing much about how we'll deliver NC's mission through our new houses of service!

Raffle Tickets!

Students will receive them today

Among the many great traditions at Newark Catholic is our annual raffle that we’ve held since 1986! Students will receive their tickets this week, and more details will be sent home with new NC students.

Please return stubs to Newark Catholic before 10/7, which is the date of the first drawing.

Lunch account info

As we transition from FSS/Vanco (MySchool account) to FACTS to manage lunch accounts, we're experiencing a few glitches. We appreciate your patience as we work to smooth everything out.

Please take note of the following:

Until we can get our point of sale system linked to FACTS, we are simplifying the menu and only offering food from the hot line the first week of school. Pre-ordered salads may be picked up in the hot line during a student's lunch period.
We anticipate both the hot and cold lines will be available starting the week of 8/25
You are able to go into FACTS now and add money to your student's lunch account
Balances from the old system (whether positive or negative) will be transferred to FACTS sometime in the next couple of weeks

-Reminders-

New rule related to bluetooth listening devices

The school policy related to the use of non-school-issued technology now includes air pods and other bluetooth listening devices. Refer to page 36 of the family handbook for more information.

Immunizations

Documentation (or a document of exemption permitted by the state) must be on file with the nurse’s office by September 10. Non complying students will be sent home per the state law. Refer to page 49 of the family handbook for additional details.

It's homework time! Fill out, review and/or sign needed docs in Final Forms by 8/22

In Final Forms, you will see a set of forms (including the handbook) that need filled out, reviewed and/or signed. Students and a parent/guardian must complete the review process which also includes updating the medical history and any changes in address, phone number and so on. Students can complete their needed items in on Opening Day via their NC emails, and parents are asked to do so by 8/22.
