With the Emmaus Road Scholarship, dollar-for-dollar Ohio tax credit, you convert your tax dollars into scholarship dollars. Designate a scholarship to help Newark Catholic students, and you get it back on your Ohio state taxes. Reduce what you owe by giving a gift of up to $750 individually and $1,500 filing jointly. SPICE stands for Special People in Catholic Education, a nonprofit organization that supports the education of all children with diverse learning needs in our parish and schools. SPICE partners closely with our local Catholic schools to provide tools, services, and supplemental funding that directly support students—including those with IEPs and those who simply need extra help throughout the year.

At Newark Catholic, SPICE has provided funding for:

• Mental health counselor
• Professional development for staff
• Supplemental support for the intervention specialist
• Intervention staff
• ACT preparation support
• Specialized tutoring

SPICE has also provided funding for speech services at St. Francis, an emergency evacuation chair lift at Blessed Sacrament and the following at both schools:

• Supplemental pay for intervention staff and aides
• Sensory room items
• Books and classroom supplies
• Educational software

Winter Coat Giveaway

The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a winter coat giveaway at Blessed Sacrament following the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass at 6 p.m. Thursday, 12/11. Please help spread the word to those who may be in need. Coats are available in a range of sizes, from children to adults.
