A jam-packed Wednesday Wave!

Be sure you're up on all the great things happening at Newark Catholic right now

Two Important Events Happening Tomorrow!

Parent-teacher conferences, Oct. 2 from 3:30-7 p.m.

There's still time to sign up! Registration closes Oct. 2 at noon. Parent-Teacher conferences are not required, but they are a great opportunity to connect with teachers about your student's progress so far this year. You have the option of meeting with one particular teacher or multiple--the process is flexible to meet your needs.

NHS Induction Ceremony, Oct. 2 @2:20 p.m. in the NC auditorium

Our National Honor Society Induction will be held tomorrow! Families are welcome to attend. For those who are unable to be there in person, you can watch a livestream of the event at this link. The same link can be used to watch a recording of the event.

Homecoming Week Overview

Homecoming week offers TWO opportunities for students to earn points for their House of Service! Both the Tuesday volleyball game and the Wednesday spaghetti dinner have been added as spotlight events!

Great News...

No need to cook Wednesday or Friday of homecoming week!

We've got dinner covered through two great NC events!

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser!

Fall athletes eat free!

Join our fall athletes and support Newark Catholic at our spaghetti fundraiser! Cheer will eat at 5:30, football at 6:40 and volleyball 7 or 7:15ish. Golf and cross country TBD--ask your athlete as next Wednesday approaches. Gather your crew and rally in support of NC over a delicious meal!

Purchase a pre-ordered meal today!

You can also pay in-person, and a to-go option is available!

Note: In order for a student to earn house points for this event, his/her participating family member(s) must purchase a pre-ordered meal.

Pre-Parade Food Trucks!

As students are finalizing their class floats and families are gathering for the parade, be sure to fuel up before the big game vs. Heath! Two food trucks will be parked in our lot offering something for everyone!

We're offering Grilled Cheese Gangsters and Drip Dreams (not just ice cream!) who have generously offered to donate a portion of proceeds back to Newark Catholic.

See you there!

More Homecoming Information!

Homecoming Dance

Tickets

Tickets will be on sale in the cafeteria during lunch the week of homecoming. They are $15 and can be purchased with cash or check. In order to buy a ticket for a guest who does not attend Newark Catholic, a permission form must be turned in before a guest ticket can be purchased.

Guests

Any student planning to bring a guest who does not attend Newark Catholic must complete and turn in a permission slip by Oct. 8. Please note:

  • Permission slips are available in the school office
  • Any guests must be in high school (grades 9-12)
  • All guests must bring their current student ID or a picture ID to the dance in order to enter

Homecoming Parade

After a lapse of many years, we brought back our homecoming parade last year, which was a huge success! We're excited to again rally the Green Wave through a special parade down Church Street to White Field.

Each class is in charge of determining a theme and creating their own float. Any student who wishes to participate can do so with their class. With the exception of cheerleaders, parade floats and participation will be by class, not by sports team.

Be on the lookout for information from a rep from your student's class.

Starting at 3:30 Friday, class floats will have access to Wilson field across from the school to finalize their float.

Floats and participants will line up at 5:45, and the parade will begin at 6 p.m.

We need your help in the cafeteria!

Looking for a fun and easy way to support Newark Catholic? Please strongly consider helping in the cafeteria! Our amazing 3-person staff really needs your help!

Whether it's once a week, once a month or whenever you have a spare lunch hour, your time will help make sure things are running smoothly and quickly.

Have a couple extra sets of hands each day to serve lunches and help with set up/clean up will help more than you know.

We hope we can count on each family to offer help with at least one shift!

Yes, I would love to help! Sign me up!

Please be sure to review our volunteer requirements before signing up.

First raffle ticket drawing is next week!

Be sure to get your stubs and money to the school office ASAP! As a reminder, we draw five winners on the first Tuesday of each month, October through June. Our first drawing is next Tuesday, Oct. 7! Look for monthly winners posted on our website at www.newarkcatholic.org under school news.

Photos and Recap of Houses of Service Day

Just yesterday, our students participated in their first Houses of Service Day. Through some friendly competition, a house mentor-led service activity, study tables, featured speaker Shane Jewell from St. Vincent Haven, and much more, students experienced a very special and meaningful day.

Our houses of service are well on their way toward establishing strong bonds and exploring what it means to be a servant of God.

Upcoming Events

Support Newark Catholic's campus ministry program

Students/Kids welcome!

The program includes featured speaker, Fr. Anish Thomas (NC's new chaplain), plus student reflections, and a performance by members of NC's Liturgical Choir.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in the school office. Reserved tables of 8 are available.

  • Doors open at 7 a.m.
  • Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m.
  • Program runs from 8-9 a.m.

Contact Ande Annarino or Brooke Riggleman for more information.

8th Grade Day

We are in coordination with our feeder schools (St. Francis de Sales, Blessed Sacrament, St. Vincent and St. Pius) to bring their 8th grade students, but the opportunity is open to any 8th grader interested in learning more about Newark Catholic. Please spread the word about 8th grade day to any family outside our feeder schools! Contact Brooke Riggleman for more information.

Prospective Family Night

6-7:30 p.m. (for parents/guardians)

Prospective Family Night is a great first step for parents/guardians interested in getting to know Newark Catholic. Attendees will hear about various aspects of student life at NC and gather answers to a very important question: Why Newark Catholic? Help us spread the word to anyone looking for a high school where their student will be respected, be known and be challenged!

Last week's college fair got students thinking about what's ahead

Last week's college fair was a huge success! Sophomores, juniors and seniors had the chance to meet with 23 colleges/universities (both 4-year and technical) and even an Army recruiter.

Every admissions representative had nothing but positive things to say about Newark Catholic students. We're very proud of how our students represented the school.
