Help us spread the word about 8th grade day

and prospective family night!

Oct. 21 is our big day to share all the great things about NCHS!

8th Grade Day

During the day, we’ll welcome 8th grade students to truly experience life at NC. Lunch will be provided. We are in coordination with our feeder schools (St. Francis de Sales, Blessed Sacrament, St. Vincent and St. Pius) to bring their 8th grade students, but the opportunity is open to any 8th grader interested in learning more about Newark Catholic. Please spread the word about 8th grade day to any family outside our feeder schools! Contact Brooke Riggleman for more information.

Prospective Family Night, 6-7:30 p.m. (for parents/guardians)

Prospective Family Night is a great first step for parents/guardians interested in getting to know Newark Catholic. Attendees will hear about various aspects of student life at NC and gather answers to a very important question: Why Newark Catholic? Help us spread the word to anyone looking for a high school where their student will be respected, be known and be challenged!

Support Newark Catholic's campus ministry program by attending our annual prayer breakfast!

The program includes featured speaker, Fr. Anish Thomas (NC's new chaplain), plus student reflections, and a performance by members of NC's Liturgical Choir.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in the school office. Reserved tables of 8 are available.

  • Doors open at 7 a.m.
  • Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m.
  • Program runs from 8-9 a.m.

Contact Ande Annarino or Brooke Riggleman for more information.

Digital Communications

Students in NC's Digital Communications class had some fun Friday night putting their knowledge and skills to work during our first home football game. They captured drone footage of our bustling student section, an EPSN-worthy video of an NC touchdown and even conducted interviews as part of our resurected Channel Nun News. How cool is all of that!?

All About National Honor Society (NHS)

It's more than good grades! Application process starts in October.

Talk to your student about joining NHS! Membership demonstrates consistent academic performance, leadership, and community service—all qualities valued by colleges, universities, and career training programs.

What is NHS?

National Honor Society is a nationwide organization that recognizes outstanding high school students who demonstrate excellence in four pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Who can join NHS?

Students can apply their sophomore year and will be inducted as a junior (or senior, depending on when they apply). Students must meet the GPA requirement (a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at Newark Catholic) and demonstrate leadership, service, and character.

How do you get into NHS?

Eligible students are invited to apply in October of each school year (with induction happening the following year after requirements are met). Those interested in learning more or applying can talk with Mr. Mummey. He will remind students about the application once it opens in October. As part of the application process, students must provide evidence of 30 hours of service and show leadership within the school/community.

Save the Date for our 2025 NHS Induction Ceremony, Oct. 2 at 2:20 p.m. at NCHS

College Fair takes place next week!

Next Thursday (Sept. 25), sophomores, juniors and seniors are invited to attend this year's college fair from 11:30-2 p.m. More than 20 college/universities (both 4-year and technical) will be present! Students can chat with reps and gather information during their lunch period or study hall. Be sure to encourage your student to participate!

Spotlight on Student Support Services at NCHS

Supporting a positive school culture for the whole student body

In support of student mental health, NCHS partners with school-based clinical counselor and art therapist, Dr. Kelly Roberts. Dr. Roberts is onsite most days to offer a listening ear, talk through tough stuff, and much more.

For the 2025-2026 school year, Dr. Roberts will be working with a nonclinical intern in support of student programming and activities related to mental health.

Let's welcome (back) to NC Abby Caskey, 2022 NC graduate

Abby is a senior at The Ohio State University Newark, working toward earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school, earn a degree in a Psychology field, and one day become a school counselor. Abby is excited for this opportunity, and happy to be back at NC!

Note: Abby will not be doing any direct clinical work, only support for student programming and activities.
