Our Houses of Service will hold their first meeting next week!

As we've shared, Newark Catholic High School launched an exciting new venture this year--houses of service!

Our house system is designed to build and foster community and camaraderie among students, while infusing a little friendly competition. Most importantly, together they'll help one another see beyond themselves by selecting a community organization to support and serve, guided by the question:

"What is God calling us to do?”

During next week's meeting (happening during the school day), students will hear a community speaker who will get them thinking about a potential organization to serve. They will also get to spend plenty of time together in their individual houses getting to know one another.

Reminder: No School Friday, September 26

Our faculty members will be participating in a professional development day! Also, on Thursday afternoon and Friday this week, school administrators of the Diocese of Columbus will gather for their annual retreat. This retreat is a time of reflection and renewal as they grow in their faith and spend time with the Lord in prayer, renewed in their ministry of service for Jesus though Catholic school leadership.

Help us spread the word!

Oct. 21 is our big day to share all the great things about NCHS!

8th Grade Day

During the day, we’ll welcome 8th grade students to truly experience life at NC. Lunch will be provided. We are in coordination with our feeder schools (St. Francis de Sales, Blessed Sacrament, St. Vincent and St. Pius) to bring their 8th grade students, but the opportunity is open to any 8th grader interested in learning more about Newark Catholic. Please spread the word about 8th grade day to any family outside our feeder schools! Contact Brooke Riggleman for more information.

Prospective Family Night, 6-7:30 p.m. (for parents/guardians)

Prospective Family Night is a great first step for parents/guardians interested in getting to know Newark Catholic. Attendees will hear about various aspects of student life at NC and gather answers to a very important question: Why Newark Catholic? Help us spread the word to anyone looking for a high school where their student will be respected, be known and be challenged!

Environmental Science class helps beautify our school grounds!

Students in Mr. Nogay's Environmental Science class removed the spent blooms of the marigolds planted by the entrance (a process called dead-heading). When the flowers are opened up, there are about 50 or more seeds in each one. Students will help plant the seeds next spring to make the flower beds more colorful and to offer a more inviting entrance to our school.
