Summer is just beginning, and we are all wondering what it may hold - how it will be different from our “typical” summers. Just as many things have changed since March, summer will most likely hold some changes as well. One thing that will continue is Camp Montessori.
As you may know, WMS’s summer camp is opening on June 29. This summer, we will welcome campers from toddler through sixth grade. Right now, there is a hum in the building as our camp staff prepares for the campers’ arrival. Rooms are being readied, outdoor spaces are being set up, and training is being provided to ensure the campers’ health and safety.
Camp Montessori has many traditions, some of which will continue and others that will change. Children will have lots of outdoor time, each group assigned a dedicated space for outdoor activities. The older children will also spend time exploring the woods and more of the campus than they typically do. Our creative and enthusiastic camp staff is ready to offer safe AND fun experiences to all campers this summer. We have received guidance and are abiding by health and safety regulations from the Office of Child Care Licensing, who licenses WMS’s early childhood, camp and extended day programs.
Though changes are necessitated to ensure everyone’s safety, we look forward to a vibrant and active summer at WMS. And while camp gets into full swing, we will continue to work on plans for the coming school year, sharing news in future editions of the Wednesday Weekly. Enjoy the start of summer, and we’ll see you soon!
