Preparing for Fall
Labor Day is around the corner, so even though it may still feel like summer in many respects - change is coming! School (though it may look rather different this year) is about to begin for many, and I want to wish everyone returning to school, whether virtually or in person, a happy and safe start to the year. And, I wish all you parents success as you continue to navigate your child's learning and growth and your own home and work responsibilities
I know there is so much to manage, but please register for the High Holidays if you haven't yet! Those too are around the corner. Next week we are assembling Shana Tova bags which will go out to every member household - when you register, you can sign up to personalize a New Year's card that everyone will receive in each bag. So please do that soon!
Also in that bag will be a "Beginning Anew" packet that contains the High Holiday schedule, recipes, do-at-home rituals, readings for services, coloring pages and much more. I especially want to draw your attention to a section on how to create your own home sanctuary. Just as you or your child has created a home work or school space, we are inviting you to create intentional space for you to worship at home. Start thinking now where and how you will connect virtually for the High Holidays - what you will need, what you will wear, and what aspects need to be cleared away so you can connect to the holiday and our community.
There are two virtual classes I want to draw your attention to:
- Sunday September 13 at 5pm our own Art Finkle will be giving a presentation on the Shofar - the history and traditions of blowing shofar from around world.
- Wednesday September 9 at 8pm I will be giving the second 'Spirited Conversation' on Preparing your Heart for the High Holidays during a Pandemic. I'll share a text or two, and we'll have an informal discussion.
Please see the Whisper for links to both of these sessions. I hope you will join us!
