Jacoby & Fiona

Meet Jacoby and Fiona!

Jacoby is a 7-year-old boy who is full of energy and loves to play. Sometimes he can get a little distracted, but he really enjoys doing his school assignments and homework. Jacoby is also very affectionate with his sister and his foster family and in his interactions with others he is always a kind and sharing friend. Although he is continuing to work on his eye-hand coordination, he doesn't have any learning difficulties at this point and has made great progress in his behavior since coming to his foster home. When he first arrived, he was quiet and withdrawn, but now he is spontaneous, joyful, and easily relates to those around him. Jacoby has a favorite stuffed panda bear that he sleeps with every night and loves watching shows such as Tom and Jerry, the Smurfs, dinosaur shows, and Masha and the Bear. He also enjoys playing outside and his caregivers say he shows talent in dancing and being the leader of the group. Jacoby longs for a family for him and his sister who will treat them well and provide him with a good education so he can make lots of money to buy his sister lots of dresses!

Fiona is ten years old and is learning and growing each day with gentle guidance from her foster family. Her support team is continuing to assist her in controlling her impulses, speech development and fine motor skills. Despite a difficult early childhood and moderate cognitive delays, Fiona has proven to be a strong and resilient kid, establishing close bonds with her foster family, especially one of the 22-year-old daughters who helps Fiona with her school tasks and comforts her when she is sad or frustrated. After homework is done, Fiona skateboards, enjoys relaxing in a hammock, paints or plays outside with her brother.

Emerie

Meet the newest kid on the block from Colombia . . . Emerie! This 11-year-old girl loves to study and learn new things and one day hopes to become a teacher, singer or a veterinarian. When she is not completing homework or playing with other kids, both younger and older, you may find her listening to tunes. In fact, she has expressed that she would love to have her own headphones so she can listen to music even more often than she already does! Because of the support from those around her, this determined girl has gained the confidence she needs to push past intellectual and behavior delays. Her support team has helped her regulate impulsivity and manage anxiety, too. Will your family consider being part of Emerie’s “team” for her success?
