Happy New Year to all our parents and Providers! What a year 2020 was, I can confidently say we are all looking forward to a better 2021! Every year we reflect on how proud we are of our Agencies and Providers and in no year in our history were we more proud than last year. Our Providers stayed the course, remaining open and delivering quality, safe care throughout the pandemic. They are our true heroes. As we look forward to 2021, we know it is starting with a mix of uncertainty with a sprinkling of much needed hope and optimism!
As always in January, we are pleased to announce our focus for our Wee Watch Together Wee Can program. This year we are especially proud to announce our program is entitled, “Together Wee Can Come Together”! Our program this year will focus on our Wee Watch community coming together to support the learning and development of the children in our homes. This year we know that the connection to community and others is important for us all, so the children will engage in learning activities that align with the Ministry of Education’s four foundations for learning; Belonging, Well-Being, Expression and Engagement. Check out our Together Wee Can section below for the details on the entire year! There will be lots of opportunities for families, children and Providers to help their communities – we look forward to seeing the children learn and grow this year though our program!
In January, we start off the quarter with Expression, and a focus on literacy. Children will engage in reading and writing activities and build a ‘Tower of Books” in a reading challenge. Wee Watch will donate 10 cents for each book read in Wee Watch homes across Ontario during the month of January to the Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation. To inspire parents to assist their children with a focus on literacy this month, we have dedicated the theme of this month’s newsletter to articles and ideas to promote literacy for all ages.
Again, all the best to our Wee Watch family for a Happy New Year!
