2 T. olive oil, divided
1 onion, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 LB fettucine
1 bunch asparagus, ends trimmed, cut into 1" pieces
1/2 c. finely grated Parmesan cheese
Zest from 1 lemon
Salt and pepper to taste

Bring large pot of salted water to a boil. Meanwhile, heat 1 T. olive oil in medium skillet. Saute onion until soft; add garlic and saute 1 minute more. Remove from heat.

Add pasta to boiling water. Cook according to package directions. During final 2 minutes of cooking, reserve 1 c. of pasta water and add asparagus to boiling water.

Drain pasta and asparagus. Return to paot; add 1 T. olive oil, onion and garlic mixture,, Parmesan, lemon zest, and 1/2 c. reserved pasta water. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Toss and serve, adding additional pasta water if needed.
