Week 1 Highlights:

11/06, 10:00 AM EDT: Swami Ritavan Bharati, with Adhikari Bhoi and Ramprakash Das -
Opening and Basic Elements of Meditation in the Himalayan Tradition

To experience the deeper levels of ourselves, we need to explore and know the different aspects of our being. In this age of fast and instant results with so many temptations, how can we relax and calm our restless mind? How do we learn to live a purposeful life and find a balance between the internal and external worlds?
This session will focus on the foundations and pre-requisites to the practice of meditation and begin the in-depth 20-hour study of meditation in the Himalayan Yoga Tradition.
Swamiji, Adhikari and Ramprakash will open our Virtual Workshop, welcoming us with messages and teachings on the Basics of Meditation in the Himalayan Tradition, given from the Guru's Seat at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama.
Swami Ritavan, MS, E-RYT-500, Ashram Pramukha and Spiritual Guide: has lived a life dedicated to serving Swami Rama and Swami Veda Bharati since 1970. After having been initiated at the age of 20, he transited through all the three Ashrams of Vedic life (Brahmacharya, Grihastha, and Vanaprastha) under the direct guidance of Swami Rama and Swami Veda Bharati. He was then initiated into Sanyasa in 2007. He has guided numerous silence and meditation retreats throughout the world and has been instrumental in guiding the International HYT-TTP. He is also a Mantra Initiator within the Tradition of the Himalayan Masters.

Adhikari Bhoi: had a long-time yearning to know more about the Himalayan Masters. Being well versed in many scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, and Srimad Bhagavad, he was always committed to sharing the ancient teachings and is one of the most dedicated teachers at SRSG. He is a mantra initiator in the Himalayan Tradition, and a member of the AHYMSIN Spiritual Committee and the AHYMSIN Executive Committee.

Ramprakash Das: Born in Nepal, Ramprakash Das was inspired and mentored throughout his early life by his grandfather, who was a Vaishnava monk. He studied Sanskrit grammar and literature extensively for 5 years in Rishikesh, before joining the Dhyana Gurukulam at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama in 2006. In 2007, he undertook a five year vow of Brahmacharya from Swami Veda Bharati. Upon completion of his Gurukulam studies, he became a permanent faculty member at the ashram. Ramprakash is recognized by many as a very loving, caring and dedicated teacher.

11/07, 9:00 AM EST: Pt. Ashutosh Sharma - Hatha Yoga as a Gateway to Meditation

The practice of hatha yoga leading to meditation is a mindful journey from stillness into the deeper stillness of "Silence". It is a form of meditation in motion, an inward journey into the depth of "Stillness and Silence".
This session will explore the practice of Hatha Yoga Asanas as a training of the mind through the body and as a training of the body from a calm, clear, awake, rested and joyful mind.
Pandit Ashutosh Sharma: Pandit Ashutosh Sharma is an expert hatha yoga instructor, who can teach both beginners and advanced students. From an early age, he studied asanas, pranayama, and subtle-body relaxation techniques. In 1992, he met Swami Rama, who sent him to Swami Veda Bharati to learn meditation and to intensify his practices. Since 1996, he has been traveling and teaching worldwide. He serves as a senior Hatha Instructor for the Himalayan Yoga Tradition - Teacher Training Program (HYT-TTP) and has trained hundreds of teachers all over the world in the Prana Vidya Hatha Yoga Style of the Himalayan Tradition.
