Week 16: August 24, 2024

Want some fun ways to get fit?
Andrea,

For those of you who currently have an active fitness routine, it's easy to see how recruiting, extracurriculars, maintaining relationships, etc. could get in the way of your workouts once school ramps up.

This week, we'd like to share some fun ways to kill two birds with one stone as you get fit and connect with classmates too!

The 100 Week Sprint team
To-do's this week
Got 5 minutes? Think of one fitness goal you could achieve within the next few weeks.
Got 30 minutes? Consider signing up for a fun run or fitness classes, and invite classmates to join you.
Got an hour? Pick a form of exercise and do it!

Ideas to get you moving

Get active and be competitive:

  • Compete with friends: apps like the Apple watch's Activity App, Stridekick and Strava connects different fitness trackers so you can spark friendly competition among friends in school and elsewhere.
  • Invest in a fitness tracker: having a tracker (or even a simple pedometer) helps you to meet your fitness goals. Many trackers have social features and allow you to challenge and compete with friends.

Get active and be social

  • Make every meeting a walking meeting: if you're catching up with a friend or former colleague, take the call and go!
  • Join an intramural sport: it's a great way to meet classmates and build camaraderie, all the while staying fit.
  • Try out fitness classes: there are a variety of fun fitness classes such as Crossfit, SoulCycle, yoga, kickboxing, martial arts, etc. with friends. Check out GrouponLivingSocial, and other websites for special deals to try something new.
  • Start a fitness group: having a group of classmates will motivate you and strengthen your relationships. Involved in clubs? Invite the members to participate in an activity together.
  • Take advantage of the campus gym: invite a classmate or two to join you and set up a schedule to go regularly.

Get active by volunteering:

  • Volunteer and keep active: organizations such as Back On My Feet allow you to get involved in the community while staying fit.
  • Sign up for a fun run: there are a large variety of themed runs such as The Color RunHot Chocolate Run, and Neon Run to name a few. Invite some of your classmates to train together and go on a run at an event near you!
